Welcome to the Team, Dr. Travis Rollason! 🐾

We’re thrilled to officially welcome Dr. Travis Rollason to the Jefferson Animal Hospital family as our Managing Veterinarian!

Originally from sunny San Diego, Dr. Travis brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and dedication to his work. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from San Diego State University, graduating summa cm laude, and in 2017, he achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a small animal veterinarian with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis.

From hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant to organizing relief work in underserved communities in Mexico, Dr. Rollason’s passion for animal health has always been clear. His professional interests include ophthalmology, internal medicine, dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and preventative care. He is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is USDA-accredited.

In early 2025, Dr. Rollason made the exciting move to Baton Rouge and chose to join our team because our mission and values, "Where Pets Are Treated Like Family", closely align with his own. He considers pets as members of the family and believes that the human-animal bond is a very special component. He loves using modern medicine to improve the lives of both his patients and clients.

When he’s not at the hospital, you might find him working out on his Peloton, traveling the world to explore new cultures and cuisines, or enjoying time with his two lovable pugs, Huckleberry and Abraham. And if you're a fellow Swiftie, you’ve just found your new favorite vet! 🎶🐶

💙 A Bittersweet Farewell to Dr. Stephanie Thomas 💙

It is with both heavy hearts and warm wishes that we announce that Dr. Stephanie Thomas will be leaving Jefferson Animal Hospital as she begins a new chapter in Nevada. Her last day with us will be Tuesday, July 29.

For the past 9 years, Dr. Stephanie has been more than just a veterinarian to our hospital, she has been a compassionate healer, a trusted friend, and a beloved leader. Her dedication to patient care has touched the lives of so many families, both furry and human.

Whether she was gently comforting a nervous pet parent, staying late to make sure a patient was stable, or sharing a laugh with the staff between appointments, Dr. Stephanie brought heart and soul into everything she did. She formed lifelong bonds with so many of our clients and their pets, many of whom grew up under her care their entire lives.

Though we are sad to see her go, we are also so proud of her and excited for the next step in her journey. Nevada is gaining an incredible veterinarian and an even more incredible person.

Please join us in sending Dr. Stephanie all the love, gratitude, and well-wishes she deserves. Her presence here will be greatly missed!

A personal message from Dr. Stephanie Thomas:

“November of 2016 I decided to join the team at Jefferson Animal Hospital with Dr. Freddie Michaelson and Dr. Sam Haase. As I look over the past 9 years, I realize that I have become part of the JAH family. The staff and leadership teams are the best. We have been through so many changes but continue to grow and bond in so many ways. We have worked together through the good and the rough times. We made it through the COVID pandemic and now spend time together having fun outside of work. I am so happy to be able to call everyone here family. When it comes to clients, I couldn’t ask for better owners. My clients have challenged me to learn better medicine, as well as new ways to care for their fur babies. I am happy to call my clients friends as well as great owners.
It is with some sadness that I announce that I will be leaving Jefferson Animal Hospital to move to Nevada. My husband Derrel moved to Nevada 3 years ago for a “temporary” job that has now become more permanent. In August I will be moving with my 4 dogs and 1 cat to join Derrel in Nevada and work in the Las Vegas area. Although this adventure is new and exciting, I still feel a great loss leaving behind a great work family and wonderful clients. I will miss all of you very much.”
