When Elmer the Beagle got his paws on some raw chocolate chip dough, things quickly took a turn! 🐶🍪

His pet parents brought him to UrgentVet Carytown, where the team acted quickly to help. With medication to induce vomiting, they discovered Elmer had eaten a whopping 2.4 pounds of dough! 🍞

Raw bread dough can be dangerous for pets because the yeast continues to ferment in their stomach, producing alcohol that can lead to toxicity. Add chocolate to the mix, and it's important to seek veterinary care right away.

Thankfully, Elmer got the care he needed!

When your pet runs into a bit of "Ruff Timing", UrgentVet is here to help. 🐾

If you need to visit in the coming months, we'll waive your exam fee (just show this post or mention EXAMWAIVE when you arrive).

Puppies have a way of keeping life interesting... and Remi is no exception! 🪨🐾
This adorable baby vizsla came to see us after deciding that rocks looked like a pretty tasty snack. After taking some x-rays to confirm our suspicions, we safely induced vomiting and were able to retrieve his unexpected "treat."
We checked in with Remi's family the next day, and we're happy to report that he's doing great! ❤️ Here's hoping he sticks to puppy food for his future taste tests. 😉

Even our fluffiest friends need a little extra TLC sometimes! 🐾💛
Bailey, this handsome Goldendoodle, came to see us so we could help clean up and care for an irritated spot on his skin. After clipping the area, giving it a thorough cleaning, and applying a topical ointment, he was all set to continue healing comfortably.
Bailey was such a sweet patient, and we can't wait to see him back to enjoying all of his favorite adventures with that happy doodle smile! ❤️

Some adventures are better left unexplored... just ask Dash! 🦔🐾
Dash, along with his housemates Leo and Dakota, came to see us after an unfortunate run-in with a porcupine. Before getting those pesky quills removed, we ran pre-op diagnostics to make sure everyone was ready for sedation. Once they were safely asleep, our team carefully removed the quills and got these sweet pups on the road to recovery.
We're happy to report that Dash, Leo, and Dakota are all doing well! ❤️ A big thank you to their wonderful family- both the humans and the pups- for being so incredibly kind throughout the whole visit. We loved meeting all three of them, even if we wish it had been under less pokey circumstances!

Our team provides convenient, affordable urgent care for cats with online check-in and walk-in availability, making it easier to get the care your pet needs when unexpected moments happen.💙

Buster came to see us for some painful skin issues, and while he wasn't exactly thrilled about his visit, our team was able to help him feel much more comfortable.
After a safe sedation, we cleaned him up, treated a skin infection, and sent him home with pain medication, antibiotics, and one very fashionable recovery cone. 💙
The best part? Buster's family checked in with us the very next day to let us know he was already feeling better and much more comfortable. That's the kind of update we love to hear!

Not every patient is excited to see the vet- and that's okay! Our job is to keep them safe, comfortable, and on the road to recovery.

Keep healing, Buster!

🐾 Sweet Sandy, big adventure! 💕

Sandy came to see us after returning from exploring her family's 15 acres with her buddy, Cupcake. 🐶🌾 She suddenly started limping and wasn't putting weight on her back leg, leaving her family worried.

After a thorough exam, we suspected a soft tissue injury to her knee rather than a fracture. We helped keep Sandy comfortable with pain relief, sent her home with medications, and she has a follow-up planned with her regular veterinarian.

We're wishing Sandy a speedy recovery so she can get back to adventuring with Cupcake! ❤️🐾
