🎃🐾 TRICK OR TREAT? WE'D RATHER HAVE A FOREVER HOME! 🐾🎃

The Furl 2 Furever Halloween costume contest is officially underway, and our furry little contestants are ready to steal your hearts! 🧡

🎃 Leo, our little pumpkin, is pretty sure being this adorable should earn him unlimited treats and possibly his own personal chef.

🧛 Luigi, the dashing vampire, promises to steal your heart, not your blood. He's a gentleman, after all!

🧙‍♀️ Chewy, our magical little witch, has been practicing spells. So far, the only one that's worked is making everyone fall in love with that sweet face!

💀 Blade, our spooky skeleton, would like everyone to know there's nothing scary about him. Unless you count how quickly he can steal your favorite spot on the couch!

😈 Baretta, our mischievous little devil, insists the horns are purely decorative. We're not entirely convinced! 😂

But underneath all those costumes are five wonderful cats with one very special Halloween wish.

They'd love to trade their costumes for a cozy couch, a warm lap, and a family to call their very own. ❤️

No tricks. Just treats, purrs, head bumps, and a lifetime of love.

Maybe this Halloween, instead of bringing home another bag of candy, you'll bring home your new best friend. 🐈‍⬛🏡

🎃 Happy Halloween from all of us at Furl 2 Furever!

Tell us in the comments: Which costume gets your vote? 👻🐾

🐾🚨 $5 FRIDAY: LEO HAS A SERIOUS CONCERN! 🚨🐾

Leo has been checking the pantry, and he's not happy with what he's seeing! 😿

We're running dangerously low on wet food for both kittens and adult cats, and with 59 cats already in our care and another 34 coming into rescue this week, those little mouths are adding up fast!

That's 93 cats depending on us to keep their bellies full. ❤️

🥫 Just $5 helps us feed 5 cats one meal!

Five dollars might not seem like much, but when our community comes together, those donations turn into full bowls and happy, healthy kitties.

Our BIGGEST need right now is wet kitten and adult cat food. Donations of food are just as appreciated as monetary contributions!

🙏 If you can spare $5 this Friday, Leo and all his furry friends would be incredibly grateful. And if you can't donate, sharing this post helps too!

Let's fill those shelves before Leo calls an emergency staff meeting. He's already looking pretty serious about it. 😂🐾
❤️ Every dollar helps us keep going!

🐾WE'RE NOT CRAZY, YOU'RE CRAZY!
— Furl 2 Furever, probably. 😂🐾

So… we've had 38 ADOPTIONS in the last TWO MONTHS! 🎉❤️

And naturally, we've decided to take on 34 MORE CATS AND KITTENS. 🤦‍♀️😂

We're talking moms and their litters, litters without mom, and even an ENTIRE FAMILY because dad decided he was sticking around, too. Sir, nobody invited you to this group project, but welcome aboard! 😂

But here's what's really happening behind the scenes…

The MAJORITY of these cats and kittens are already being cared for by people who found them, have been feeding them, and decided they weren't going to turn their backs on them. And now those same amazing people are committing to fostering them through Furl 2 Furever!

THAT'S what makes this possible. ❤️ People stepping up for the animals they've already fallen in love with and giving them a path into rescue, vet care, and eventually their furever homes.

So, what's the plan?

🐾 All pictured will officially be coming into rescue between now and November 11th.

🐈 Adults should be ready for adoption in approximately 8 weeks.

😻 Kittens will follow as they finish growing and receive their vetting.

🎄 Some may be ready around Christmas, with the rest expected in January and February.

❤️ We'll be accepting hold applications with a nonrefundable $50 deposit applied toward the adoption fee.

Once they're officially in rescue, we'll introduce everyone individually with names, genders, and approximate availability dates.

So yes, 38 adoptions AND 34 more coming in.

Are we crazy? Maybe.
Are we stopping? Absolutely not. 🤣

Apparently, our love language is saying "we'll figure it out" while adding more cats to the spreadsheet.

🎉🐾 WE’RE TURNING ONE — AND WE’RE CELEBRATING WITH BINGO! 🐾🎉

Can you believe it?! Furl 2 Furever is celebrating our FIRST BIRTHDAY as a 501(c)(3), and we’d love for you to come celebrate with us at our 1st Birthday Bingo Bash! 💜🥳

📅 Saturday, November 14
📍 Antlers Ballroom
300 Washington Ave, Apt 106 • Lorain, OH 44052
🚪 Doors open at 4:00 PM
🎱 Bingo starts at 6:00 PM

Come ready for a fun evening of bingo, community, cats and celebrating an incredible first year!

Bingo is all paper with cash payouts, and packages start at just $15 at the door—no advance purchase necessary. Every guest will also receive a door-prize ticket, plus there will be a snack bar and FREE coffee bar! ☕️

And of course, Furl 2 Furever will be there with raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing and a few adorable adoptable cats who would be more than happy to help us celebrate. 🐱💜

We’re proud to be holding this event in partnership with Operation Care Package. Bingo benefits Operation Care Package, while proceeds from our raffle baskets and 50/50 drawing benefit Furl 2 Furever and help us continue caring for the cats who come through our rescue.

🐾 Want an extra ticket for our Special Supply Raffle? Bring a case of wet cat food (kitten or adult), clumping cat litter, or pine pellets with you!

Our first year has brought kittens, seniors, medical cases, scared cats learning to trust, happy adoptions, some heartbreak, a whole lot of vet bills—and more lives changed than we ever could have imagined when this began.

Through every bit of it, our community has shown up for these cats.

So come spend the evening with us. Play some bingo. Try your luck at the raffles. Meet a few of our babies. And help us celebrate the first chapter of Furl 2 Furever. 💜🐾

🎂 ONE YEAR. SO MANY LIVES CHANGED. AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED.

🐾 COLD WEATHER IS COMING: LET’S TALK CAT SHELTERS 🐾

You don’t need a fancy cat house or a big budget to give an outdoor cat a warm, dry place to sleep this winter. A sturdy Styrofoam cooler can become a simple winter shelter with just a few modifications. 💜

Cut a small entrance, roughly 6 inches across, into one side of the cooler. Keep the bottom of the opening a few inches above ground level so rain and snow are less likely to get inside. Smaller is actually better here because it helps hold in the cat’s body heat and discourages larger animals from moving in.

Then comes the most important part:

STRAW. NOT HAY.

An easy way to remember it:

🌾 HAY is for HORSES.
🐱 STRAW is for STRAYS.

Fill the shelter generously with loose straw so the cat can burrow down into it. Straw helps repel moisture and provides insulation. Check it throughout the winter and replace it whenever it becomes damp or dirty.

And please, as cozy as they may seem, DO NOT put blankets, towels, carpet or cat beds inside an outdoor winter shelter. Those materials absorb moisture. Once they're wet, they become cold and can even freeze, which is exactly the opposite of what we're trying to accomplish.

Place the shelter somewhere protected, raise it off the cold ground, and turn the entrance away from the wind. During heavy snow, check that the entrance hasn't become blocked.

That’s it.

A cooler.
A small doorway.
Some straw.
A protected spot.

Something that simple can give a community cat a warm, dry place to curl up when an Ohio winter comes knocking. ❄️🐈

And remember:

HAY = HORSES.
STRAW = STRAYS.

That little rhyme might just help someone remember what belongs inside. 💜

Did somebody say ROUND UP? 👀
Because I heard the humans at Pet Supplies Plus Elyria can round up their purchase for Furl 2 Furever… and apparently that means more treats for me.

I approve this message. 😋🐾”**

🐾 WISH LIST WEDNESDAY: THE CUPBOARD IS LOOKING A LITTLE RUDE

We opened the food supply and apparently our cats have been eating like we have 59 tiny furry employees with absolutely no intention of contributing financially.

Oh, wait. 😑🐈

This Wish List Wednesday, wet cat food is our biggest need. Our supply is getting VERY low, and with this many bellies to fill every day, those cans disappear fast.

Right now we especially need:

🐾 Adult canned cat food, any brand or variety
🐾 Fancy Feast canned kitten food
🐾 Blue Buffalo canned kitten food

Pâté? Yep.
Chunks? Absolutely.
Gravy? The cats have informed us that gravy is, in fact, a food group.

Cases are wonderful, but please don't ever think a few cans won't help. Every single can becomes a meal for a cat in our care. ❤️

The funny posts and adorable faces are the easy part of rescue. Behind every one of those faces is a bowl that needs filled every single day. Right now, we'd really appreciate some help filling them.

You can shop our Amazon or Chewy wish lists:

Prefer to shop locally? We also have a donation drop-off bin at Pet Supplies Plus in Elyria! 💜

Thank you to everyone who helps us keep these bowls full. Whether you send a case, drop off a few cans, donate, share our posts or simply keep cheering these cats on, you're part of how we keep doing this.

🖤🐈‍⬛ NATIONAL BLACK CAT DAY 🐈‍⬛🖤

Today belongs to the house panthers, the tiny voids, the midnight shadows and those mysterious pairs of eyes staring at you from a dark hallway. 👀😂

It's National Black Cat Day!

This day was created to celebrate these gorgeous cats and challenge the old myths and superstitions that have followed them for centuries.

Black cats have had quite the PR journey. At different points in history they've been associated with everything from witchcraft and bad luck to good fortune, prosperity and protection.

And for the record, science has weighed in.

They're black because of pigmentation.

That's it. 😂

No curse.
No bad omen.
Probably no portal to the underworld.

Probably.

So today, we'd like to introduce you to a couple of Furl 2 Furever's own beautiful black boys.

🐈‍⬛ CYCLONE

"Hi. I'm Cyclone.

Yes, I'm black. Apparently there was some confusion about that. 🙄 I have what's called a fever coat, which can temporarily make parts of a black cat's fur look gray or lighter.

Now that we've settled my official color...

I'm an adventurous guy who believes greeting you at the door is part of my job. I love to play, explore and keep myself busy. Once I've finished all of my very important cat business, I'll happily come find you for some love.

Basically, you get an adventure buddy AND a cuddle buddy.

You're welcome." 😏🖤

🐈‍⬛ CHEWEY

"Listen, I'm an old soul.

I'm not asking for much. I'd like a comfortable lap, a person to love and my wet food delivered promptly.

And by promptly, I mean PROMPTLY.

I know when breakfast is. I know when dinner is. And if YOU don't know when breakfast and dinner are, don't worry.

I will tell you. 😂

I'm currently taking an antibiotic, so I'm not available for adoption quite yet. For now, I'm getting better and accepting applications for my future position as Professional Lap Warmer." 🖤

🖤 AND THEN THERE'S SWEETPEA...

Sweetpea was supposed to be part of this post.

Our beautiful nine-year-old black girl had been waiting for someone who understood that older cats still have so much love and life left to give.

We were going to let Sweetpea introduce herself and tell you that she loves cuddling, sleeping with her person and still knows how to play.

Except...

SWEETPEA FOUND HER FOREVER HOME. 😭🎉🐈‍⬛🖤

Her application was approved, her adoption fee has been paid, and our girl is officially ADOPTED.

Her new family already loves a 13-year-old black cat and has a rescue dog, too.

Somehow, that makes this National Black Cat Day feel just a little sweeter. 🥹

Because a black cat crossing your path isn't bad luck.

Sometimes it's Cyclone waiting at the door.

Sometimes it's Chewey announcing that dinner is three minutes late.

And sometimes...

it's Sweetpea finally finding the people who were meant to wake up with her beside them. 🖤🐾

Happy National Black Cat Day from all of us at Furl 2 Furever.

We waited an extra day to make this post so ALL of our babies would already be home! 🥹❤️

EIGHT forever homes found this weekend!! What a GREAT weekend! 😻❤️

🏡 Sweet Pea — This sweet, precious old lady found her way to us last December during a TNR project, and we just knew she belonged inside. Now she has her very own forever home with her mom, dad, and feline AND canine siblings! ❤️

🏡 Shay, Ewok, Sleepy & Wolf — These four were dumped at just 4–5 weeks old with their mom and two other siblings. We took them in, watched them grow, and this weekend, the LAST of these babies found their forever homes! 🥹 Nothing makes us happier than seeing them all get their happy endings!

🏡 Winnie & Maggie — Two of our girls from the Middle Ave project found their forever homes this weekend, too! And their brother Calvin? He decided he was already home and became a foster fail! ❤️😂

Eight happy endings, families made, and so many little lives changed forever. THIS is why we do what we do. 😻❤️

Thank you to everyone who adopts, fosters, donates, shares our posts, and supports Furl 2 Furever. You help make these happy endings possible, and we couldn't do it without you!

From furl to furever — eight more babies are HOME! 🏡🐾❤️
