Weathering the Storm

What a wild and wet few days it's been! Thankfully, all our scaly, furry and feathered friends are safe and sound. We've brought some of them inside, and the rest have extra protection outside.

Despite the gloomy weather, I'm grateful for my amazing partner who's been working tirelessly with his dad to tackle our property to-do list. Rain or shine, they're getting things done!

*Our New Sanctuary: A Dream Come True*

We're beyond thrilled to share that we've found the perfect home for our rescue! This new paddock may look bare now, but with time, love, and hard work, it will become a safe haven for our scaly and feathered friends.

A huge thank you to our amazing family's for their support in making this dream a reality. We're excited to start this new chapter and can't wait to share our journey with you.

However, we need your help to turn this paddock into a sanctuary. Our cheeky birds are already getting into mischief, and we need:

- Metal aviaries to keep them safe and secure
- Fencing to protect our animals and define their new home

If you have metal aviaries to donate or sell at a reasonable price, or know a fencing company that would love to lend a hand, we'd be forever grateful. It truly takes a village, and we'd be honored if you could be part of ours.

Let's work together to create a haven of love, care, and safety for our rescue animals. We can't wait to share our progress with you!

Aquatic Friends Looking for a Forever Home🐟

We're rehoming a lovely group of fish and would prefer they go to the same home. They are all healthy and beautiful, and would thrive in a tank with plenty of space.

The group includes:

- 3 wild-type angel fish
- 36 Priscilla tetras
- 2 mollies
- 8 guppies
- 3 bristlenose plecos
- 1 common albino pleco
- 3 African butterfly cichlids
- 1 Bolivian ram
- 8-12 corydoras catfish (including sterby emerald and bronze)

To provide a happy home for these fish, you'll need a tank of 300 liters or more. Pickup is available in Warkworth. If you're interested in giving these aquatic friends a forever home, please get in touch!

A Heartfelt Thank You to Pet.kiwi

I am completely overwhelmed with gratitude and I don't even know where to begin to express my heartfelt thanks to Pet Kiwi for their incredible generosity and support. As a featured rescue in March, I had the opportunity to be showcased around the shop, and a donation pile was set up for me. I was hoping for a few bits of food and maybe a toy or two for the birds, but what I received was truly beyond my wildest expectations.

On Thursday, I was surprised with not one but two boxes delivered from Pet Kiwi. The first box was filled with an assortment of goodies, including parrot food, lorikeet food, bird toys, and fish food. I was already beaming with joy at the thought of all the happy animals, but the second box took my breath away.

The second box contained eight UVB lights, which is a game-changer for the reptiles in my care. As anyone who keeps reptiles knows, UVB lighting is crucial for their health and well-being, and this donation has made a huge difference. I have to admit, I even shed a few tears of joy and gratitude when I realized the impact this donation would have on the animals.

But Pet Kiwi didn't stop there. They also included vouchers that I can give to adopters, which will be a huge help in creating adoption packs. This thoughtful gesture will enable me to provide a better experience for the animals and their new owners, and for that, I am truly grateful.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Pet Kiwi and the people who donated. Your kindness and generosity are truly amazing, and I am so thankful for your ongoing support. Without places like Pet Kiwi and people like you, I wouldn't be able to continue helping these beautiful creatures, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Meet Chucky: The Pacific Sailfin Tang Looking for a New Home

This big, bold fish needs a tank that's up to his energetic personality! Chucky requires a spacious tank (600L+) with large marine fish and an owner who can provide plenty of food.

As he grows, he'll need room to swim, so a larger tank is a must. And, as a bonus, we're open to selling the 600L tank he's currently in, complete with Chucky, to the perfect owner!

TV Debut

We're thrilled to have started the day on Breakfast TV! I was joined by Jojo from Raining Rabbits Rescue NZ , and our rescue superstars George the bearded dragon and Waldorf the tortoise.

We were honored to be invited on the show to talk about the Exotic Animal Conference happening tomorrow and raise awareness about exotic animals in NZ.

It was a surreal and special moment, shared with an amazing team. George and Waldorf stole the show with their impeccable behavior – they're true little stars!

We're seeking a loving aviary for Ash, a charming 1-year-old cockatiel. This social bird is eager to join a flock of fellow cockatiels and would thrive in a communal environment.

Suspected s*x: Male (he's started whistling!)
Location: Poroti, Whangarei area

Please note: Ash is an aviary bird and not tame. He'll make a wonderful addition to a spacious aviary with plenty of feathered friends.

A Flock in Need of a Forever Home

As some of you may know, geese hold a special place in my heart, thanks to my beloved son Pancake, who just so happens to be a goose. So, when I was asked to help find a new home for 25 geese, I couldn't say no.

These stunning geese are looking for a perfect haven where they can thrive together. Did you know that geese can form lifelong monogamous relationships? It's heartbreaking to think of breaking up a bonded pair, which is why we're eager to find a single home that can accommodate all 25 geese, keeping the flock intact.

But time is of the essence. Unfortunately, if we can't find a new home for these beautiful geese, they're facing an uncertain future and potentially even euthanasia. It's a devastating reality that we're desperate to avoid.

Geese make fantastic companions, serving as loyal garden guards, lawn mowers, and friends. If you're interested in providing a loving home to this entire flock of 25 happy paddock mates, please reach out.

If we're unable to find a single home for the entire flock, we'll work on finding multiple homes that can take a few geese each, ensuring they still receive the love and care they deserve. Let's come together to save these incredible birds!

Bug Bounty

Some people are rich in wealth, others in assets, but I'm rich in bugs! Today, our big bug order arrived, and we're buzzing with excitement!

Our amazing suppliers, Mealworms 2U and iNZect direct , have come through for us again. We've got a feast fit for royalty: crickets, locusts, mealworms, black soldier fly larvae, and pellets. As a special treat before brumation, all our reptiles will get to indulge in mealworms – a rare delight!

I'm incredibly grateful to Mealworms 2U for their ongoing support. Their generous donation of crickets has made a huge difference in our rescue efforts. This incredible company has been instrumental in making our rescues possible. Their food supplies are top-notch, and their doorstep delivery is convenient and wonderful!
