🐴 Is your horse suddenly lame?

It could be a hoof abscess — a painful but common cause of lameness, especially during these wet winter months. Signs include a sudden reluctance to bear weight, heat in the hoof, and a strong pulse in the affected lower limb.

Most abscesses improve quickly once the pressure is relieved — while some abscess drain by themselves, others will need to be "opened" by your veterinarian to allow for drainage.
