Crossiebeg Brennan x NZWB mare. Pepper is nearly 5 years old now. He needs a measure, but I think he's pushing 15.3HH, which is a bit of a surprise when Mum is 15.1HH on her tippy toes and dad is 13.3HH. He's a great size, aka fun size. But he can stop growing now! His dam, Lola, is in foal to Leo and due late spring. This will be her last foal. She owes me nothing and makes gorgeous looking, great moving foals. I'm super excited to see what the cross with Leo will give me :)

I'm thinking out loud but putting it into the universe on the off-chance ...

Given the current cost of living crisis and my own personal financial constraints, I am having to seriously reconsider my broodmare numbers :(

I have five broodmares. Lola is currently carrying her last foal and has earned her retirment here, so will live out the rest of her life as a cranky aunt to the foals. This leaves me with Lile, Mouse, Dakota and Mischique. Lile, the sole purebred Connemara in the herd, is a life resident. Dakota, my special needs patchy, is a life resident and Mouse is the mare that I saved for a lifetime to buy to breed from so, is a life resident. This leaves my sweet Mischique (Mag) who has been here for nine years and produced four exceptional foals (and at 16, is still young enough to produce more).

I know the market for broodmares is poor but Mag is a proven mare, with exceptional breeding, a beautiful mover, and has produced multi champion winning progeny (especially talented show hunter and dressage ponies) so I am sure there is a savvy breeder out there who would appreciate what she would bring to a breeding programme. She's also sound and could be ridden so that's more than one string to her bow.

I was going to breed her to Leo this spring, and still will (or back to Brennan), so, if you are interested in her, please message me and we can talk. I don't really have many great photos of Mag but I do have lots of her kids so feel free to search Bramble, Bracken (name changed to Busbee) and Hazel on this page or Crossiebeg Brennan - Class 1 Studbook Connemara Stallion 's page. Her most recent foal was born whilst she was out on lease so I don't have any photos of her.

Mag is dam of TF Small Torque, TF Straight Torque, TF Sweet Torque (By TF Hamish) and TF All Torque.

This is a tough decision and still may come to nothing but I'm trying to be grown up and sensible ...

First obstacle course ✅️

My hope was to have him walk around the arena quietly with the other horses doing the obstacles and maybe try a few obstacles ourselves. Suffice to say, he exceeded all expectations and was a bona fide rockstar! I had the best time and am so proud of him. My lovely wrangler got some photos and video - Enjoy 🙂

Tipsy is ready for her new home! Weaned, great for the farrier, great to catch, lead, load on the float, vaccinated for tetanus and microchipped and she can be registered as a partbred with the CPSNZ. This is a thoughtfully bred, carefully handled, lovely typey youngster - she has regularly had FEC completed and been drenched appropriately. She really is a superstar of the future - I cannot believe not a single solitary soul has looked at her. Her paddock mate leaves in a couple of weeks and I would love for her to find her own people.

Welcome!

"Extraordinary Horses for Ordinary Riders" Welcome to the Talisman Farm Sport Horses page! We are proud to be standing at stud two proven and versatile stallions; the Wairarapa Station-bred Stallion TF Hamish & The Class 1 Inspected Connemara Pony Stallion, Crossiebeg Brennan. Our small band of very special mares carry the bloodlines of Aberlou, Silent Hunter, Crown Lease, Laughtons Legend, Exemplar, Tira Mink, Littorio and Ramzes II.

Established in 1999, Talisman Farm is nestled in the heart of the picturesque Wairarapa in the small rural settlement of Rangitumau, north east of Masterton. Here we run our horses, a few head of cattle and sheep on 40 acres of good limestone country. The gently rolling land contours help to ensure that our youngsters grow up well balanced, sure footed and strong. We also provide limited medium to long-term turnout / young horse / retirement grazing. Please contact us for more details.

It is our aim to share our hobby and passion for breeding sound and exceptional riding horses for the amateur rider, with you.
