I am quietly and tentatively looking for an exceptional smaller warmblood mare (15.1–15.3hh) to lease or purchase.

I guess I am not quite ready to give up on breeding yet. With the loss of my lovely Mouse, and Lola’s retirement, I find myself without the sort of mare from which I would breed more Peppers or Puddles — and honestly, the world needs more Peppers and Puddles. ❤️

Ideally under 12 years old although I will consider mares older than this if performance / breeding proven. Must have proven rideability bloodlines if not proven performers themselves (ammy friendly), an outstanding temperament, quality movement, and be genuinely easy to handle in all aspects. A little spice is perfectly fine, but I breed horses for kids and middle-aged ladies like myself to enjoy so temperament and rideability are absolute priorities.

Seeking a mare with:

Correct conformation
Soundness (will consider something that has been retired through injury)
Attractive type - I am a sucker for a pretty face!
Great feet
Trainable, sensible nature
Quality movement and athleticism

Open to lease or purchase for the right horse and I offer the right horse a lifetime home. Please PM me.

Pepper and I at Solway today having a lesson with Frankie Webb. Massive thanks to Horse & Cat Vet Wairarapa who sponsored us today and Webb Equestrian Specialists for the lesson! I'm still the only person that I know who can get lost in a 60 x 20 arena but Pepper, who is endlessly forgiving, tried his little heart out for me. Boy riding is hard. Rogue left hands that have a life of their own, legs that point in every direction except the direction you want them to and a brain that has zero sense of direction! Dressage is a journey and there are no short cuts - We're on the way though :)

Some of you may remember that Pepper was having some issues with floating — he’d jump out of his skin if you touched him while loading or once he was on, hated the ramp going up, nearly sat down, and generally worked himself into a complete state about the whole thing.

As a baby baby he’d actually learned to load beautifully and would self-load like a dream, but after I shut the ramp to take him away to be started under saddle, he completely lost confidence in the float. It’s taken a long time, a lot of patience, and plenty of tiny steps to work through it.

But at last something in his tiny little walnut brain has clicked and now he’s an absolute pro. Calm, confident, and self-loading like it’s no big deal at all.

Today Pepperoni Pony and I had Day 2 of the Autumn Series and I am just so stinkin' proud of him 🥹

Very early start (I caught him in the dark!), fun plaiting (he knew I had schnax in my pocket so was an absolute demon about turning his head around), and he was also FILTHY so there may have been hosing... 😅

Loaded up brilliantly without blinking and off we went. This time I went in with a couple of slightly different goals, alongside one that stayed the same. One of the new goals was to improve my rider mark — and we did in the first test! Not so much in the second… but to be fair, that second test was very harrrrrrrd (according to Pepper). 😂

Pepper also still hasn’t quite grasped the concept that when mum gets off, it doesn’t necessarily mean the day is over. Add in the fact that he again held onto a massive wee until after both tests (pre-test wees are a life skill, Pepper!) and honestly, he still pulled two really pleasing scores out of the bag

A quick reminder because I can’t keep them all — especially not the ponies that deserve cool kid riders 🖤

There’s absolutely no rush to move this girl on, particularly as I don’t have any foals due this coming season, but it would still be lovely to secure her future family — people who will genuinely love and enjoy her.

She is going to be a large pony and, like all of Crossiebeg Brennan - Class 1 Studbook Connemara Stallion's offspring, I suspect she’ll be an absolute star in the SH ring, but she also has all the ingredients to make a seriously handy show jumper, hunter, dressage or eventing pony… and honestly, probably a cracking driving pony too if carts are your thing.

She’s got lovely conformation, quality breeding, and excellent movement with plenty of boogie in her. You could even choose to put her in foal before breaking her in if breeding is of interest.

Mostly though, she just deserves someone excited about her future, because I really think she’s going to be pretty special ✨

It has been a wild 'n windy day but brave pants were pulled on and we ventured out to climb the Rangitumau paper road. Pepper and Leo took their hacking buddy Lyric and had a fantastic run up the hill.
