Dental Health Matters for Your Feline Friend
Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health issues in cats? Regular dental care can help prevent pain, infection, and even organ damage.
Have you noticed your cat has bad breath? Does your cat seem to mostly prefer their wet food, or seem to try to eat on one side of their mouth? Or perhaps, they show no obvious signs but we have identified plaque or gingivitis on their vet exam. Cats are very stoic!
At Horse and Cat Vet, we want to help you keep your cat's teeth and gums healthy.
Our comprehensive dental exams include
- General anesthesia for a stress-free experience
- Thorough examination and x-rays to assess dental health (including probing and assessment under the gumline)
- Scale and polish to remove tartar and plaque
- Discussion of preventative care and tailored advice.
For a limited time, we're offering a special promotion on our initial dental package. Normally $600, you can now book your cat's appointment for $500.
*Important note:* Pre-anesthesia blood work is not included in the estimate above and is recommended for all cats, especially those 8 years and older. This testing not only helps ensure your cat's safety while under anesthesia but also provides valuable insights into their overall health, allowing us to identify any underlying conditions that may need treatment.
We completely understand that everyone is working to a budget these days. If your cat requires tooth extractions, we can stage the procedure to help us give a more accurate estimate for the extractions. By having the x-rays done during the initial visit, we can better plan for your cat's treatment and provide a more detailed estimate for any necessary extractions. This approach allows us to work with you to find a solution that fits your budget while still addressing your cat's dental needs.
After the initial visit, we'll work with you to develop a preventative care plan to help keep your cat's teeth and gums healthy. Regular check-ups will help us catch any potential issues early, reducing the need for more complex and costly treatments down the line.
We always do a clinical exam prior to the anaesthesia on the day - if it is identified that there is an obvious tooth that needs removing (for example, it's broken or dead), then of course we can plan to go ahead and remove this on the day. We can do you an estimate for this at your drop off consultation no problem.
