CMA

It’s likely you’ve seen in the news over the last few days about the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) report suggesting some changes they’d like to see moving in the veterinary sector, which we welcome.

Here at Estuary Vets we like to think of ourselves as a socially conscious, progressive, independent practice and we’re proud to say that we already had most of this guidance in place.

Here’s a little reminder:

​⁃​A comprehensive price list for all our services is available on our website and has been since day one. We can also provide these on the phone on request.

​⁃​Healthcare plan savings are readily available via the link on our webpage.

​⁃​Our cremation pricing is transparent as we work with our local provider (also an independent pet cremation service). In advance or during a euthanasia consult we can discuss the best choice for you and your companion with dignity and compassion.

​⁃​We provide estimates for all major procedures and where possible try to for chronic care plans as well. However, if you feel unsure or would like more guidance around costs, please do feel free to ask.

​⁃​Our written prescription fees are already area leading in terms of affordability and have now been streamlined for simplicity adopting the £16 cap. Those on our Wellness Plan continue to receive written prescriptions for preventative medications free of charge.

​⁃​We proactively highlight the use of online pharmacies and written prescriptions, but also try to keep our medication prices competitive to treat acute conditions and for those pet’s chronic conditions whose owners prefer the reliability of in-house medication.

We value your support in buying medications directly from us. The majority of online pharmacies are owned by the same large corporate groups as the large chains of veterinary practices and they can afford to undercut independent practices and often sell medications cheaper than our own wholesale purchase prices. It is a challenge!

International Veterinary Nurse Day 💉 🩺 🐾

Today we’re proud to celebrate Veterinary Nurse Day, a day to recognise the incredible work that Veterinary Nurses do to care for animals and support their teams.

A huge thank you to our two nurses Charlotte and Tracy for everything you do.

We're so lucky to have you both as part of our team and we know our patients (and their humans) think so too! 🐶 🐱 🐰

Nuggets Story 🐶

Here we have young Nugget who took a tumble last week and had the misfortune of fracturing his lower leg (tibial crest). After confirming the fracture on some xrays, the Estuary Team had Nugget operated on last week to ensure that he can bounce back in as quick a time as possible. Nugget is already using his leg with some confidence and we cannot wait to see his old bouncy self return in full.

Did you know that Estuary Vets, aside from our regularly first opinion work, are able to offer orthopaedic surgery? With a CertAVP Surgeon, we can offer capabilities which are more advanced, but will always work with owners to identify which cases are suitable for in-house work versus external referral.

Lovely Bert 🐱

Very sadly this year Bert had a cancer diagnosis. Despite this, he is still out and about exploring and living life to the fullest.

Bert’s owner is giving him the best chance by working closely with our Vets to get him the treatment he needs.

Good morning from the 3 tortie mums and their offspring 💞

By tonight, they'll all have been neutered, health-checked and microchipped thanks to Medivet Torquay Moor Ln and Estuary Vets shuffling things around to make space 👏👏👏

We're working hard on finding them all their forever homes 🤞 but for now they're safe 💖

🎉 Huge well done to Heather and Tracy for smashing today’s Park Run! ✨

Heather hit an incredible milestone with her 50th Park Run and Tracy completed her 20th.

Tracy is also gearing up for a half marathon tomorrow! 👏

Today we had this gorgeous 8-week-old puppy and a beautiful 9-week-old kitten in for their very first vaccinations. 💉✨

Both were absolute stars 🌟
