It's been another busy week in our in house labπ¬.
Our practice lab at Rampisham allows us to perform in house diagnostic tests, speeding up diagnosis and decision making for our vets, thereby allowing rapid and effective treatments to be given to the animals under our care π π π π π¦ π.
Our lab techs Georgia and Ella have sent us this video of lungworm larvae found in the faeces of some sick and coughing suckler calves.
Lungworm ('husk') is a common cause of coughing in growing (and increasingly adult) cattle at grass, and can be fatal if not treated. Lungworm larvae are shed in cattle dung, and need mild and damp weather to multiply and infect other cattle through contaminated grazing. Recent weather has been simply perfect π‘οΈ π¦οΈ!
Please be vigilant!
