Have you noticed more shedding this week since the clocks have changed?
That's perfectly normal - here's why...

With the clock change, the rhythm of the dog's day also changes and more time is most likely spent outdoors. More daylight triggers the timing of shedding to lose unnecessary post Winter undercoat keeping the dog more comfortable in a lighter Spring jacket. The hair growing cycle is also slowed down.

Increased daylight is great for a dog's coat as it helps in vitamin D synthesis (The process where on exposure to sunlight the dog's body makes vitamin D) which is essential for regulating calcium and phosphorous balance in in the body. Calcium and phosphorous are critical for healthy skin structure, proper function of hair follicles and cell growth and regeneration. Normal levels support strong, healthy hair growth. Low levels lead to, weak or brittle hair, increased or abnormal shedding, and dull poor coat quality.

So get outside as much as you can!
