🐶☀️ Please keep your dogs safe in this heat ☀️🐶

Many dogs in the UK are not used to these temperatures, and hot weather can become dangerous very quickly.

Please avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day. Pavements can burn paws and heatstroke can happen fast even on shorter walks.

✔️ Walk early morning or later evening
✔️ Keep fresh water available at all times
✔️ Make sure they have shaded, cool areas to rest
✔️ Never leave dogs in cars, even for a few minutes

If it feels too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for them 🐾❤️

Why I became a dog walker 🐾

I’ve had dogs my entire life over 20 years of being around them, caring for them, and understanding them.

From growing up with dogs to being involved in breeding and rescue, it’s always been more than just a love for animals. It’s something I’ve naturally built my life around.

Over time, that turned into working with animals professionally, including dog walking and animal nutrition.

For me, it’s not just about “walking dogs”it’s about making sure they’re happy, healthy, and properly cared for every single time 🤍

🐾 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬? 🐾

A**l glands are two small sacs located either side of your dog’s a**s (around the 4 and 8 o’clock positions). They produce a scent that’s unique to your dog which is why dogs often sniff each other’s rear ends when they meet.

Normally, when your dog goes to the toilet, these glands empty naturally as stool passes through. Most of the time, you won’t even notice they’re there.

⚠️ But sometimes things don’t go as planned…
If the glands don’t empty properly, fluid can build up, thicken, and block the ducts. This can lead to discomfort and irritation.

🚩 Signs to look out for:
• Scooting along the ground
• Excessive licking or biting at the area
• Strong, unpleasant smell
• Discomfort when sitting

If left untreated, blocked glands can become infected, form abscesses, or even rupture so it’s important to act early.

💡 Prevention & support:
✔️ Keep the area clean (dog-friendly wipes can help)
✔️ A good diet with enough fibre supports natural emptying
✔️ Some dogs benefit from certain treats (like tripe), but every dog is different
✔️ Regular checks, especially if your dog is prone to issues
