โœจ Meet our current Small Animal Rotating Intern, Dr Anna Mawston โœจ

Anna graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015 and has worked across a wide range of practices โ€“ from mixed rural work to charity practice at the PDSA, where she developed a strong interest in surgery. After completing her BSAVA PGCert SAS and gaining Advanced Practitioner status in 2024, Anna joined the SATH to further develop her skills in a referral setting.

She says:
๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œI wanted to experience working in a large multi-disciplinary referral hospital and explore the idea of becoming a specialist in small animal surgery. The busy and varied caseload at Liverpool, along with the supportive and dedicated team, made it the perfect place to do my internship.โ€

Anna has particularly enjoyed being part of research projects, supporting undergraduate students, and observing innovative procedures. She also highlights the strong sense of community at SATH โ€“ both in the hospital and through the many social and sporting activities outside of work.

๐Ÿ’ก Her advice for anyone considering an internship?
โ€œEmbark on your role with an open mind โ€“ you may discover new interests, whatever stage of your career youโ€™re at. Itโ€™s a fantastic opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills.โ€
