Is your Bluetongue vaccine up to date 💉🤔

As we approach the peak midge season protecting your farm from Bluetongue virus is important. The current advice is to be vaccinating now to get cover before summer.

📱 Please contact the office on 01606 723200 for any enquiries or to purchase the vaccine. We are also registering interest for any smallholder clients who would like to book a visit to split a vaccine bottle.

Mark & Phil helped Grappenhall Heys Primary School's chicken last week. She needed emergency treatment and stayed with Mark for a few days of recovery after her procedure. We're very pleased to hear she is doing well🥰

Something a little different for our vet Isobel this morning. As part of our partnership with Harper Keele Vet School we have set up a Calving simulation for 4th year vet students. Students get the chance to practice correcting malpresentations, get up to speed with head ropes and leg ropes as well as learning how to suture fake cow skin and imitation uterus, replicating caesarean section in the cow. These farm vets of the future, taught by Willows Farm vets, are keen to get out in practice all over the country in 2027!

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week to our brilliant Team at Willows Farm Vets!
Sarah keeps us organised, planning our days and solving our problems as well as dealing with our TB test planning. Kate manages all our herd health plans and marketing ideas, always with a sunny disposition on our phones.. Carol keeps us on the straight and narrow with accounts and finances as well as having a wealth of farming experience. Tracey tracks our pharmacy and deals with our medicines superbly. Helen works from our Mold branch, dealing with all our lab work and pre movement TB tests.

Without them the practice couldnt run properly and we are very grateful!

Nematodirus is now at peak hatch at Rostherne station and susceptible lambs (6-10 weeks of age) grazing contaminated pastures are at very high risk. Contaminated pastures have been grazed by lambs in the previous year.
If you have at-risk lambs on farm and would like to discuss diagnostic or treatment options, please call the office on 01606 723200 📱

Further information can be found on the SCOPs website at: https://www.scops.org.uk/internal-parasites/worms/nematodirus-in-lambs/
