Dear All ,Just thought you would love to see how some of my babies are doing .The 5 larger babies eyes opened today .The tiny ones only weighed 15 to 17 grams on admission but are doing nicely .And I’m still not really open but can’t leave them .Barbara

Dear All ,I have had 2 hoglets with amputation of there back leg in the past 24 hrs .Treated with amoxicillin and meloxicam for pain ,shortly my vet will clean the sockets and remove from the joint any remaining debri of bone .So sad this is happening to our beautiful hoglets .Barbara

Dear All ,I felt very sad and angry yesterday .I received a call about a hedgehog in a bad way .As you know I’m not taking in but seem to have taken 18 in due to them not finding the help .But on this occasion this hedgehog needed very urgent care and was in Worsley .The lady didn’t drive ,she sent me a photograph and I could see flystrike .This is urgent as maggots will eat them alive .I asked her to get it straight away to the
a vet and ask them to treat it ,and all being well I would take it in.They refused to see it and the excuse was we don’t treat wildlife and it’s a bank Holliday ,I believe them to be Pet Medics . They Hoggery came to my aid and took this poor soul in .I can’t tell you the state he was in ,but everything humanly possible was done to remove the maggots and make this hedgehog as comfortable as possible .We are supposed to be a country of animal lovers ,we have taken their habitat and cause suffering to so many .There are some of use ,spending all of out time free of charge to these incredible animals .All vets should have a duty of care no matter what or we will lose all our British wildlife.I am extremely lucky to have such a vet who is passionate about all animals,and I’m sure there are others ,but to refuse I just find it unbelievable.Barbara

Dear All ,Here are our latest additions.Three tiny babies ,disturbed nest ,one baby has bites but they are superficial so will heal ok .They were very hungry,but now doing ok .Barbara

Dear All ,As your all aware I’m not quite ready to admit lots of hedgehogs at the moment ,but when these 5 arrived I couldn’t leave them without help .They have been with me since Monday and are in Ashley’s incubator and kept snuggled together .Im hoping to be back fully opened ,for the September hoglets ,as these will be in need of help due to being born late .Barbara.
