We are so incredibly proud of the fantastic life saving work our staff dog Jaffa has done over the years for Pet Blood Bank UK 🧡🧡

After an incredible 36 donations, Jaffa has officially retired as a blood donor ❤️

Known affectionately by owner Kayleigh as her 'ginger ninja', Jaffa has spent most of her life helping save the lives of dogs in need across the UK 🩸

Since becoming a blood donor at just 14 months old, this working Bracco Italiano has helped to save the lives of up to 144 dogs!

Jaffa has always taken every donation in her stride. From donating throughout the Covid years to making the journey to The Shrubbery Veterinary Centre before later attending sessions at Barton Veterinary Hospital closer to home, she became a familiar and much-loved face for our team 🐶

While Jaffa is now hanging up her bandana for a well-earned retirement, her legacy will live on in the countless dogs whose lives she has impacted 🥰

Thank you to Jaffa for every life you've helped to save, and to Kayleigh for your dedication and supporting Jaffa every step of the way 🙏

Today we're celebrating the curious, independent and endlessly entertaining cats that make our lives so special. 💚

While every cat has their own unique personality, there are a few things every cat owner should know to help keep them happy and healthy. The best thing you can do for your cat is get to know what's normal for them. That way, you'll be more likely to spot when something isn't quite right.

Here are 8 things every cat owner should know:

🐾💛 Say hello to Honey! 💛🐾

Honey recently visited one of our lovely nurses for a nail trim and a chat about nutrition and diet. 🩺🐶

With the warm weather here, Honey came fully prepared in her adorable sun hat ☀️👒, but we think her favourite part of the visit was relaxing in the cool air-conditioned consult room! She even enjoyed a little snooze in front of the fan. 😴❄️

Honey was an absolute ⭐ throughout her appointment and was the sweetest, happiest soul to have in the practice. We loved meeting her and giving her lots of fuss!

☀️🐾 Too hot for a long walk? Keep tails wagging with enrichment instead! 🐶💛

When temperatures rise, it's important to help your dog stay cool while still giving them opportunities to play, sniff, learn and explore.

Did you know that mental stimulation can be just as tiring as physical exercise? 🧠 Enrichment activities are a fantastic way to keep your dog happy and engaged on hot days when long walks might not be safe.

Try some of these easy ideas at home:
🦴 Stuffed KONGs or treat toys
👃 Scent games and treasure hunts
🧩 Puzzle feeders
🧊 Frozen treats and dog-friendly ice lollies
🎾 Gentle indoor games
🌿 Snuffle mats for sniffing fun

Remember, if it's too hot for you, it's probably too hot for your dog too.
Always exercise during the cooler parts of the day and make sure fresh water and shade are readily available. 💧☂️
