If you are dreaming of a summer holiday with your four-legged companion, there is an important new regulation you need to know about.

As of 22nd April 2026, there has been a major shift regarding EU-issued pet passports. If your pet is not a legal resident in the EU, their EU passport is no longer valid for travel - even if it was originally issued and kept up-to-date over there.

For many UK residents traveling to Europe, this means you will likely need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) instead.

We know that navigating international pet travel requirements can feel like a minefield, but please don't panic!
Our veterinary and nursing teams are here to help you figure out exactly what paperwork, vaccinations and microchip details your companion needs to cross the border safely.

A very aptly named patient... Meet Raisin! 🐾

They say you are what you eat, but we think our lovely patient Raisin took that a bit too literally! 🤦‍♂️

This gorgeous Labrador recently ended up in our hospital after accidentally vacuuming up some raisins that fell on the floor. As many pet owners know, raisins, grapes and sultanas are highly toxic to dogs and can cause severe kidney damage.

⏱️ Luckily, Raisin’s owners knew exactly what to do and rushed her straight down to us, where our Veterinary and Nursing teams acted fast:

⏱️ We used specialized medical eye drops designed to safely and quickly induce vomiting.
⏱️ Once her tummy was empty, she received an injection to settle her nausea and help her feel comfortable again.

Thanks to her family's speedy response, Raisin bounced right back and was soon back to her happy, waggy self!
