Fifi 🩷

Fifi came in to work today with our receptionist Megan just for a quick general health check and a prescription refill! 🩺 She was very well behaved for our vet Melania so she got to enjoy some tasty liver treats after her consultation ☺️ and she also wanted to strike a pose for the camera before she went back home! 🏠

If your pet is on a long term medication like Fifi and he or she hasn’t been seen by a vet for quite some time, they may require a general health check before our vets can dispense any more medication for them! 😊 Please give our reception team a call on 0208 655 0235 to get your pet booked in now! ☎️

Scruffie! 🩷

This gorgeous girl came in for her annual booster vaccination today! And she was an absolute star! ⭐️

Why do vaccines matter? 🤔

Lepto 4-

💉Leptospirosis is serious and zoonotic (can transfer from dogs to humans). It can cause kidney and liver failure, bleeding issues, and even death.

💉All dogs that spend time outdoors—even city pups—can be at risk.

💉The 4-strain vaccine is the only one proven to prevent mortality and urinary shedding (dogs spreading the bacteria) of all four strains.

Kennel Cough:

💉Kennel cough spreads quickly in areas with lots of dogs: kennels, doggy daycare, parks, grooming salons, dog shows.

💉It causes a harsh, dry cough, retching, nasal discharge, and sometimes fever or lethargy.

💉Rarely fatal, but can lead to pneumonia—especially in puppies, seniors, or immunocompromised dogs.

Is your dog up to date with their vaccines? Give us a call on 0208 655 0235 to get booked in ☎️

Little Tino 💙

This cutie came in today for his castrate and he was as sweet as can be! Tino was enjoying lots of love after his procedure from our receptionist Megan! He is now at home and we’ll see him in a few days time so a member of our nursing team can make sure everything is healing nicely!

Unsure whether to spay or castrate? Look no further and continue reading to find out more about it! 🎉🙌🏻

The term neuter is an umbrella term for spaying or castrating. Spaying is removing the female reproductive organs and castrating is removing the male reproductive organs. Neutering is generally done under general anaesthetic, it is a routine procedure and your pet should recover quickly from it and will be able to come home a few hours after waking up from the anaesthetic.

Apart from the obvious that neutering prevents
unwanted pregnancies, it also helps with preventing the risk of testicular cancer in males and uterine infections and cancers in females, in some animals such as male ferrets it can help reduce aggression and can also prevent birth defects - this is due to animals not knowing what family members mean, meaning if you have a female cat who had a male cat they can breed if not neutered and this can cause birth defects.

If you would like to book your pet in to be neutered please give our reception team a call on ☎️ 0208 655 0235 ☎️ and they can discuss our availability with you!

Say hello to the handsome Jolly! 🥰

Jolly was in for his dental procedure and was an absolute delight to have in clinic! He was a bundle of Joy just like his owner! Who is our very own VCA Amy! ☺️

We hope Jolly is pleased with his new pearly whites 🦷 and we’ll see him back in clinic in a couple of days to see how things are healing!

Dental disease is very common in dogs, around 80% of dogs over 3 have some degree of dental disease.🦷🐶

If your dog already has a build-up of tartar on their teeth, brushing alone won't be enough, they will require a dental scale and polish.🪥

Once anaesthetised your vet will thoroughly examine the mouth. When performing a scale and polish the aim is to rid the tooth surface of any plaque and this includes the area of tooth that is just underneath the gum line. This is a very delicate area which can be easily damaged, which is why patients must be anaesthetised for the procedure. 🐾
Once all the teeth have been scaled, they’re finished off with a polish to smooth over the tooth surface, which helps to prevent plaque from building up.🦷

Don’t forget if you are part of our VIP plan you will save 10% off all our fees❤️
