What is puppy socialisation?? Well we think it's this!

We have been sent this fab photo from proud owners of not one but TWO gorgeous German Shepherd puppies, having a socialisation stroll around the local pet shop....in the trolley! How brilliant is this?!

These puppies are going to be off to a great start with experienced owners who know the importance of early socialisation.

Socialisation done correctly...

🐶 Helps reduce fear, anxiety, and nervous behaviours developing.
🐶 Builds confidence when going to new environments.
🐶 Encourages positive interactions with other dogs and people
🐶 Helps them to cope in busy situations

Socialisation isn’t just about meeting other dogs, it’s about safely introducing your pup to different people, sights, sounds, and experiences. The more positive experiences they have now, the more confident and robust they will become, equipping them with essential life skills.

Due to demand we have created some extra puppy class slots starting this week. We now only have a handful of spaces left on all Puppy Foundation classes.

Get searching everyone !!

We’re guessing a lot of you have the fans out at the moment! ☀️

Anddd, with weather making walks and exercise harder for us and our dogs, give this indoor scent detection challenge a try at home to get your dog’s nose and brain working.

Use any odour, a hidden toy, food, or target odour, and set up an interior search with at least 2 hides.

Run the same search twice:

1. First search: fan off
2. Second search: fan on

Position the fan so the airflow interacts with the hides and changes how the scent moves around the room. You can do these with a time delay between searches so there is no cheating going on.

Video both searches if you can. Watch them back to gives you loads of useful information and compare:

How your dog worked the search differently
Did the airflow push, pull or spread the scent in an area
What did you spot on video that you missed in real time

This is a great little exercise for building your dog’s scent skills while keeping them cool and comfortable indoors. Give it a go and let us know how you get on in the comments.

🥵DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS OF HEATSTROKE???🥵

Crikey its another hot one today!! We hope you and your dogs are coping in this unusual May heatwave and have found some fun ways to keep them entertained, cool and most importantly safe!

Thankfully there is lots of great advice out there for keeping your dog safe during a heatwave, but would you know how to spot the signs of heatstroke? Prevention is obviously best but early action and intervention can make all the difference. Here are a few simple tips and things to look out for.

A huge congratulations to all of our Silver and Gold Kennel Club teams at Worcester Dogs - Puppy & Dog Training who took part in their assessments this weekend 🐾🏅

The standard was incredibly high, and every team should be proud of the hard work, consistency, and dedication they have shown alongside their dogs. Whether you passed today or not, we are so proud of what you and your dogs have achieved and the progress you’ve made on your journey together 💙
