Esther is a beautiful little lady with a fantastic patterned coat of ginger, tabby and white (a "torby" and white, perhaps?!).

She's raised three equally lovely little ladies who have inherited her colours and her lovely disposition, and while they have found a home together, now it's Esther's turn!

She and her little family were signed over to RSPCA Inspectors, and Esther has been an excellent mum, despite being tiny and very young herself (approximately 1 year), and consequently at times struggling to provide them with enough milk. We've been feeding her up though, and with her spay booked in for next week, she should soon start gaining some much needed weight.

Esther is a gentle, friendly girl with a strange penchant for taking naps in her litter tray! She has been good with other cats she has seen in the cattery, not even retaliating when a particularly rude cat hissed in her face!

She's always been really good natured with us too, and never had an issue with us handling her babies.

We think she could happily live with children, another cat and perhaps a cat-friendly dog.

Dizzy will shortly be searching for her forever home, and she’s had quite a tough time of it so she really does deserve the best!

Back in May this poor girl was hit by a car and left for dead in the road. Thankfully, a kind passerby stopped and rushed her to a vet where she was found not only to have sustained some head trauma, but also to be heavily pregnant.

Once well enough, she was transferred to our cattery but she was deeply unhappy and distrustful and we knew that it wasn’t the best place for her to give birth.

Thankfully, one of our amazing fosterers was able to offer her the sanctuary she needed, and while Dizzy was initially a hissy missy and not at all handleable, with time and patience she slowly thawed and now not only trusts her human to handle her babies, but also enjoys being stroked and brushed!

She has been an incredible mum to her five kittens, and the ease with which she gave birth and her ability at caring for them suggests that this has not been her first litter. We suspect that Dizzy had been living outside for some time; a cat some may have written off as “feral”. When we advertised her as a found stray, nobody came forward, but seeing her now and her five little bundles of joy, it’s heartbreaking to think that, had circumstances been different, no one would have missed her. 😢

Now though, Dizzy has shown her potential as a quiet but affectionate cat; one who, once she trusts you, will be loyal and show her human unconditional love.

Once she is spayed and has been fully vet checked (we need to ensure there has been no lasting damage from her accident), Dizzy will be ready to start over with a new life in a loving home.

To register an interest in her or her kittens, please complete our online form and one of our team will be in touch.

Is your dog microchipped?

If not, now's your chance to do something about it (no questions asked) and it won't cost you a penny!

Worcestershire Regulatory Services Dog Warden Team are hosting a series of free dog microchipping events in parks across the county this summer.

Their Senior Dog Warden, Pip Singleton, said: “Reuniting lost dogs with their owners is always a joy, and having up-to-date microchips makes it so much easier to do. An opportunity to have your dog microchipped for free is certainly something to make use of.”

Microchips are being offered in a no judgement, environment. It represents a great opportunity for dog owners to get this done to help reduce the risk of lost dogs not being reunited with owners.

Sessions will be running from 11.30am till 1.30pm in each of the locations. There is no need to prebook.

We are urgently seeking a foster-to-adopt home for our gorgeous Savannah.

She came into our care suffering with flea allergic dermatitis and sores on her face...you may remember our previous post about how well she was doing...

Sadly, the improvement hasn't lasted and she is now back on steroids and back in her cone as her face is clearly very itchy again-and in spite of her wearing the cone, she is still managing to rub her face against any hard surface she can find in order to gain some relief.

Unfortunately, we are unable to monitor her properly in the cattery and we know that she would do much better in a home where she has company most of the time...particularly as she is such an affectionate girl!

Honestly, Savannah is one of the nicest natured cats we have ever had the pleasure of meeting; she absolutely loves fuss and human contact and she is so sweet and friendly she melts our hearts!

She is just two years old, and would make the most amazing family pet-she just needs the chance to heal and for us to get to the bottom of what is causing this reaction. Therefore, she would remain under our veterinary care until the issue is resolved, with a view to it becoming a full adoption at this point.

To find out more, please complete our online form and our team will get back to you with further information.

Asia is a stunningly beautiful girl who is sadly very confused and conflicted.

She came into our care after being abandoned by her owner, and we believe she has experienced some trauma as she is such a worried little lady. For several weeks she has hidden away in her bed and would hiss, spit and even lash out when people entered her pen. Yet our staff found that when she was picked up to go into a carrier for routine vet visits, she would freeze and kick up no fuss.

She also started venturing out of her bed to eat her meals as soon as they were served, whereas most nervous cats stay put until the cattery is closed for the day, only coming out to eat overnight.

This behaviour has continued, with her now regularly being found out front in her pen, loudly calling out for attention, but then hissing as soon as she sees us. However, when we give her attention, she will almost immediately calm and sniff our hands, appearing intrigued and wanting interaction-as long as it is through the pen door. The moment we open the door she will run back to her bed, hiss and flick her tail.

She has demonstrated a level of interest in other cats, but again, she seems slightly worried at the same time as being fascinated.

We don't know what happened in Asia's past, but we do know that her hostile behaviour and vocalisations (which are very, very loud; suggestive of some Oriental or Bengal in her mix) are just the result of her being very wary and confused, rather than indicative of aggression.

Asia is just 2 years old, and we believe that she has enormous potential-she just needs cat-savvy, understanding people.

We are still working with her, but we are now inviting applications from people who "know cats" as, ultimately, we feel that she will do much better in a home environment.

To express your interest in Asia, please complete our online form: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rspcaworcester&method=online_form_html&formid=1

Sadly, adoptions don't always work out...

This has unfortunately been the case with Spook, a 4-year-old Bengal, who was rehomed last year with his brother, Phantom.

As the boys settled into their home, they were initially doing well but when they started going outside, things changed. Bengals are notoriously territorial with other cats, and when they encountered cats in the neighbourhood there were fights, which then led to them attacking each other.

This behaviour escalated over several months, despite their owners' best efforts. Our staff offered advice and support, and this was followed to the letter, but it reached a point where Spook was constantly stalking his brother and attacking him, inflicting physical injuries.

No owners could have done more than Phantom and Spook's have done to try to resolve things, but in spite of their dedication and patience, it became clear that the bond between the boys had been irreparably broken. The cats were both extremely stressed and unhappy, and so the heartbreaking decision was taken to return Spook to our care.

It goes without saying that, going forward, Spook MUST be the only cat and he should ideally go to a home where there are few other roaming felines in the neighbourhood.

His owners have shared these lovely photos and the following insight into his character;

"Spook is incredibly loving and will often follow you from room to room for fuss and company, often meowing at you for attention (in classic Bengal style).

While he doesn’t like to be picked up, we did have a few occasions where he would choose to sit on our laps himself or cuddle right up next to us, and he would often jump up on the sofa next to us, so as to be in reach. He just loves a tummy scratch!

He loves toys on string the most and jumps really high! He will often bring toys over to you so you can play and has also been known to chase after small balls if kicked around the garden. He also loved his cat wheel, and would run for ages on it.

He is a cat who will often greet you at the front door if you’ve been away, with some instances where he would wait on the door step for me to come back from a run.

He's a really intelligent boy, and while he'd try his best to catch animals, he never succeeded and never once brought any unwanted gifts home!"

This lovely boy has been so well loved, and while we're all devastated that him coming back to the cattery has been the ultimate outcome, we know that this is 100% the right decision for him and his brother, and it's now our job to find him his forever home.

If you would enjoy sharing your life with a chatty, affectionate and playful Bengal boy, where other cats won't be an issue for him, then please click the link to complete our online form: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rspcaworcester&method=online_form_html&formid=1
