As you all know I dont like food that has lots of grain and 'nasties' in it. this has meant a constant battle with my vets about what I am feeding Ari and there are literally no foods for a puppy with kidney issues, so I have worked with a nutritionalist to get as close as we can and also keep her skin in good condition, as she has reactions to certain foods. Hills, Purina and Royal canins foods all contain lots of maize and other ingredients I wont feed my dogs. however, finally I have found a food that does not contain all of those 'nasties' well done Arden Grange for developing your Vetcare range. this is the best food I have found for dogs with kidney disease. we still have the issue of Aris age and I dont know if the chicken will upset her skin again but this is the best food so far for her problems. so if like myself you have reservations about the kidney diets that are out there, this one actually has some nice healthy ingredients whilst still restricting all of the elements that need restricting in a dog with kidney disease. she has been on their sensitive food anyway but it does not have the restricted protein that she needs, so I am hoping that the fact that the chicken is hydrolysed will not start her skin off again.
they also do joint care, gastrointestinal food and diet control food

Its International Assistance dog week
Here we are training one of our clients dogs today at St Peters garden centre. She may be a therapy, or an assistance dog, her mum hasn't decided yet but its important that they can stay calm in busy environments.
Today the garden centre had entertainment, so we got a little more distraction than we expected but she coped with it all.
It looks like the garden centre has some really good things going on through out the summer holidays, so check out what they have on

Ari update
So it's been s real couple of weeks. Darren had a norovirus type bug which literally put him in bed for 3 days, which is unheard of, then last week Ari crashed. The good news was we had bloods and urine done on the Monday and her results were actually good, so we know it wasn't kidney failure when she crashed on Wednesday. We just cant get rid of the bugs. We kill one and another brews because they sit in the corners of her deformed kidneys. This time she had been off anti biotic for 9 days again but the crash was worse. She was violently sick all night and then we took her to the vets waiting on the doorstep on Wednesday morning. Luckily two hours of fluids and she rallied again. She is back on the anti biotics and back to being a normal puppy again. Dont be fooled by this picture of innocence she is fully back on form!! We have managed to get the vets to agree to a more formal time scale of on and off antibiotics to try and avoid a crash like this again. So a bit of a rollercoaster. All I can say is good job she has insurance!

Just a little heads up. We are seeing more puppies coming into classes with harnesses on that have bars across the chest. For young pups these are not recommended, as they prevent them from properly extending their shoulders when they are walking. As puppies are growing, this is not something we want to do, so if you can buy a Y shaped harness such as the perfect fit, as these are the best for making sure that they are able to have the fullness of movement
