I went to see a young working lab today. The 121 session was based around recall as the owners have a lot land and no fences. We did some of the expected recall work and whistle work and then a bit of Kong searching to build relationship and give this lovely young girl Teeka a purposeful outlet. Teeka loved it and this was the message I got from her owner this afternoon.

“Hi Pauline. I really enjoyed today so thank you.
This afternoon I bought a Kong, showed it to Teeks, shut her in the utility then hid the Kong in lounge. I let Teeks into the lounge and said ‘find it’. It took her about 30 seconds. I repeated the game a couple more times with the same results so I decided to go for broke. I shut her in the utility and hid the Kong in one of the garden beds (you’ll remember how big the garden is). I then let Teeks out and said ‘find it’. It took her about 30 seconds! Astonishing.”

Today PWDTS Scentwork - Scentwork in Worcestershire is running our first Scentwork Uk Level 11 trial. Currently the highest level for teams to compete in. There are 3 areas to search with an unknown number of hides (up to 20 across the 3 areas) and teams don’t know how long they have to search. The odours are clove, gunoil and truffle. Super judges Harry Latusek and Gloria Bonnell are coming to Wichenford to judge this for me and I’m looking forward to welcoming the teams who are all at the top of their game.
We run a lot of NNA trials at PWDTS but we also run SWUK trials which do provide a different challenge.
