🐾 DOG CARE MYTH OF THE WEEK 🐾
❌ MYTH: “Don’t get your puppy groomed until they’re 6 months old.”
✅ FACT: Waiting that long can actually make grooming much harder for your puppy.
Puppies need grooming introduction from as early as 12 weeks, especially poodle crosses as they have fast-growing, curly coats that can start matting from a very young age. By 6 months, many puppies already have significant tangles, especially around the ears, legs, tail, and under the collar or harness.
Early puppy grooming visits are less about getting a full haircut and more about:
✔️ Getting your puppy comfortable with being handled
✔️ Introducing the bath, dryer, brushes, and clippers in a positive way
✔️ Building confidence and trust
✔️ Preventing painful matting from developing
A puppy who starts grooming early is usually far more relaxed and cooperative throughout their life than one who has their first experience when their coat is already matted and uncomfortable.
💛 Our puppy introductions are gentle, positive, and designed to make grooming a happy experience from the very beginning.
