We are so lucky to have such thoughtful clients! A little treat left with a passport when the owner wasn’t able to make it to the appointment… we are so grateful to you all! 🥰

As a small but mighty independent equine vets, awards are just one of the many ways we can increase our reach and help even more beautiful equine friends 🤍If you have worked with us since our opening earlier this year, and feel you’d like to help our team - nominating us in any of the above categories for the upcoming Vet Awards would not only make us do a happy dance (and maybe a little happy cry) but also would be so hugely helpful in growing our practice and the impact we can have within the local equine world 🤍If you get a moment, any nominations would mean the world to us 🤍

Some weeks are more trying than others, and this week the circle of life has been ever present in our minds.

While new life is so special and exciting and mostly uneventful, it is often accompanied by long nights, and big eye bags.

The other side of the coin is far harder to process, and carries a heavier toll. It is so hard to say goodbye to friends who we have known in many cases for years, and who we have admired for their bravery, courage, beauty and kindness. We admire their owners for making a brave decision, we know that it is never black and white. We know the grief that is felt, and the pain of the tears. And we try our hardest to be there, even if remotely. And no matter what, we think of the horse; and the owner; and our memories and we remember.

Each horse leaves a hoofprint.

Handwalking can feel like a hard part of the rehab process, but it’s definitely made easier when the sun is shining and your route featured a sneaky trip to the summer paddocks. How do you make the early stages of getting your horse moving after injury more pleasurable?

It’s an honour to be able to introduce Nicky to you all

“After spending years pretending to be both horse and rider and jumping flower beds in my families garden , my parents finally succumbed and bought me my first pony at the age of ten .
A real learning experience for us all and one that was to mark the start of a relationship with horses that has spanned 54 years !! and one that I have been lucky enough to share with my daughter Rachel

Sadly our two beautiful friends Taffy and Tilly have now gone on to heavenly pastures but unable to contemplate a life without horses I am now lucky to have a part loan in a very sassy but beautiful Welsh cob mare called Cagney

Nowadays my riding is more limited to hacking but I still love the freedom and feeling that companionship with an equine gives .

Away from horses , I love spending time with my family (One husband , Two children and Five Grandchildren) , gardening , Kayaking , dancing and Hill walking in the Lake District , or more locally with our little Border Terrier Annie .”

Join us for summary of one of our recent cases, Darcy! It really is a team effort and so important to look at the whole horse, Darcy's ulcers were her presenting problem but undoubtedly secondary to her hindlimb lameness, caused by her hock pain, which was likely secondary to her weakened hindlimb posture, improved with attentive remedial farriery using foot balance [email protected] Her rehabilitation journey continues- she now starts her strengthening and straightening phase with the help of Gee
