✨ WHAT A WEEK AT OLD MILL STABLES PONY CLUB! ✨

We’ve had an action-packed week full of learning, confidence building, and lots of pony fun! 💙

🏅 We kicked things off with two Helpers Days, where everyone had the chance to practise the skills they’ve been learning through their Pony Club badges. It was wonderful to see members growing in confidence and putting their knowledge into practice.

🌟 Our Tiny Tots Pony Club members are growing in confidence every week too, learning new skills, making friends, and working towards their badges with big smiles all round!

🏆 On Wednesday, we held our Dressage Competition with three different test levels. We had lots of first-time competitors taking part and every rider did an amazing job! We also held a Tack & Turnout Competition, and all the horses and ponies looked absolutely fantastic. ✨🐴

🩺 On Saturday, we welcomed Jenna from Rosevean Vets for a brilliant veterinary talk, teaching our members more about horse care, welfare, and veterinary work.

🎉 We then finished the week with some half-term fun on the bouncy castle, giving everyone a chance to celebrate a fantastic week together!

☀️ HOT WEATHER UPDATE ☀️

With the temperatures rising, the welfare of both our horses and riders comes first ❤️🐴

Here’s what we’re doing during the hot weather:

🐎 We may move your lesson times where possible to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

🐎 Lessons are being adapted — sessions may be slower paced, run as group lessons, or changed to a quiet hack depending on the heat.

🐎 Horses are being hosed off at least twice a day, even if they aren’t being ridden, to help keep them cool and comfortable.

🐎 Horses are also having electrolytes added to soaked mash feeds to help keep them hydrated.

☀️ Please send children with sun cream already applied and plenty of fluids.

☀️ Riders must have the tops of their arms covered while riding.

Thank you for your understanding while we make sure everyone stays safe and comfortable in the sunshine

☀️ We really are making the most of this beautiful weather…

There’s nothing quite like heading out through the woodland trails with the horses, enjoying the peace and shade under the trees while the rest of the world is only just starting its day 🌿🐴

To help beat the heat, we’re currently offering early morning woodland rides at 10am — perfect for enjoying the cooler part of the day and suitable for beginners too.

Whether you’re completely new to riding or just looking for a relaxing experience, our woodland rides are a lovely way to build confidence while enjoying the beautiful surroundings and spending time with the horses 🤍

We also have private lessons available over the next few days for anyone wanting to improve their riding skills or enjoy some one-to-one time in the saddle.

We’re so excited to announce that next year we’ll be hearing the pitter-patter of tiny hooves here at the yard! 🐴✨

Zennor has been confirmed in foal to Corrindon Dancer from , and we honestly couldn’t be more thrilled for what’s ahead.

Jade is incredibly excited for this new chapter and can’t wait to welcome this very special little one next year. 💕

It’s going to be a very long 11 months, but we know it will all be worth the wait! 🍼🐎✨

Did you know that to offer riding lessons, hacking, or any type of riding school activity, you legally need a Riding School Licence?

Today we had our inspection , and we’re incredibly proud to say we achieved the highest standard ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Star Licence ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A huge amount of work goes into this every single day behind the scenes. On inspection day, all 25 horses had to be immaculately groomed and fully tacked up, checked by the vet, have their tack inspected, and trot up sound. And that’s before we even mention the mountains of paperwork involved!

We’re so proud of the whole team today — every single horse looked absolutely amazing. Thank you to everyone involved for all the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining such high standards every day 🐴✨

Also, a huge shout out to the professionals who help keep our horses in tip-top condition all year round — we couldn’t do it without you 👏

Our numbers are growing, which is absolutely fantastic — but we urgently need more volunteers so we don’t have to turn people away. ❤️

🐴 No horse experience is required (although it’s always a bonus!) — we’re simply looking for people with a smiley disposition, positivity, kindness, and enthusiasm to help support our wonderful riders.

Volunteering with us is not only incredibly rewarding, it’s also a lovely social opportunity. You’ll become part of a friendly, supportive group that genuinely values its volunteers.

What a brilliant day out for our riding school ponies at the Halsetown Equestrian Club show 🐴✨

Huge congratulations to all our riders, helpers, and of course our amazing horses — every single one came home with a ribbon and made us proud 💙

✨ Monty showed why he’s our medium schoolmaster.
✨ Ted attended his very first show — and although it was VERY exciting, he tried his heart out.
✨ Finn once again proved why he’s one of the best riding school horses around.
✨ Victor strutted his stuff all day.
✨ Coco mostly loved the grass… but also took two of our tiniest jockeys to their very first show 🐴💙
✨ Barney, our resident unicorn and wonderful RDA horse, attended his first ever show with us and was amazing.

A huge well done to all the girls who spent hours grooming, bathing, plaiting, and trimming the ponies — they all looked so smart ✂️✨

For us, good riding school welfare is about more than regular chiropractor, dental, vet, and farrier appointments. Mental wellbeing matters too. Giving our horses opportunities to get out, see different places, and enjoy varied experiences keeps them happy, confident, engaged, and enjoying their work. ❤️

🐴 Rusty Riders Course – Back in the Saddle at Old Mill Stables 🐴

Thinking about returning to riding after a break? Our Rusty Riders Course is the perfect way to rebuild your confidence in a calm, supportive, adults-only environment.

Whether it’s been a few years or much longer, this 6-week small group course is designed to help you feel comfortable, capable, and back in the saddle again—at your own pace.

£30 per session × 6 weeks = £180 total
