Lots of fun in pony club last week practising the egg and spoon race 🥚🥄 .

We made it even harder by practising ba****ck and practise our leg ups .

This week we will be Practising the 3 legged race . 🏁

Great practise for our pony club show on the 14th of April - all welcome including non pony club members.

Brilliant day yesterday with you younger pony club members. The brilliant Becky from Rosevean gave a brilliant talk and then onto some practical, listening to heart beat and some bandaging practise . Thank you Becky ! ❤️

We have the lovely Becky from Rosevean veterinary practise coming tomorrow for our pony club session . This is a great opportunity for everyone.

Becky will be returning next Sunday for our younger pony club session.

A friendly reminder -

We are sadly still having to chase payments for riding lessons , pony club and extra events .

We run a payment upon booking system and all lessons , pony club and extra events need to be paid before attending the lesson.

Late cancellations (less then 24 hours) or no shows are required to pay in full and we wont be taking or securing any future bookings until this is done . We have been lenient with this in the past but I’m afraid we simply cannot do this anymore .

Please could everyone check your payments are up to date .

Old Mill Stables is looking for a Yard Hand/Groom to join our friendly team! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about horse care to work in a busy and supportive equestrian environment.

About the Role:

As a Yard Hand/Groom, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of our horses, ensuring they are happy, healthy, and well-prepared for lessons. Your duties will include:
• Mucking out stables and maintaining a clean, safe yard.
• Feeding, watering, and general care of the horses.
• Grooming and tacking up horses for lessons.
• Assisting instructors and helping clients where needed.

What We’re Looking For:
• A hardworking, reliable, and positive team player.
• Experience working with horses is preferred, but training can be provided for the right candidate who has a passion and some experience with horse/animal care.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently in all weather conditions.
• A passion for horse care and welfare.

What We Offer:
• Pay dependant on experience.
• A friendly, supportive working environment.
• Opportunities to learn and develop your equestrian skills and get formal equestrian qualifications if desired.
• Flexible hours may be available.

Riding Instructor

Old Mill Stables is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Riding Instructor to join our team! Due to maternity and injury / sickness cover, as well as a growing demand for lessons, we are offering either a full-time or part-time position for the right candidate.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative lessons to riders of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re coaching beginners or refining the skills of more experienced riders, your role will be key in maintaining the high standards of instruction and care at Old Mill Stables.

What We’re Looking For:
• A friendly, professional, and enthusiastic instructor with a passion for teaching.
• BHS, ABRS, or similar coaching qualifications are preferred, but experienced instructors without formal qualifications will also be considered.
• Ability to teach a range of riders, from beginners to more advanced students.
• A commitment to horse welfare and rider safety.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, encouraging teaching style.

Pay and Conditions dependant on experience.

Great afternoon yesterday in pony club.

Lots of new faces and pony games ….. perfect time to practise our leg ups .

Next week we have our poisonous plant badge test and we will be announcing our pony club member of the month .

next week’s fun session will be ‘have a go at Concours D elegance. If you have an outfit you would like to try out please bring it along with you. There will be costumes to try on and ride in as well as a display.
