Choosing a Qualified Canine Hydrotherapist: Why It Matters
When it comes to your dog’s safety, health, and rehabilitation, qualifications matter! It’s easy to assume that anyone offering hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, or other veterinary rehabilitation services is properly trained, but did you know there’s a huge difference between a reputable qualification and a quick online course?
A properly trained canine therapist will have studied canine anatomy, physiology, hydrotherapy techniques, and safety protocols in depth. These qualifications take years to achieve—not just five minutes online!
But qualifications alone aren’t enough—ongoing learning is just as important. That’s why I complete at least 25 hours of high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) every year, as required by my two professional associations, IRVAP and IAAT. This ensures I stay up to date with the latest research, techniques, and best practices to provide the highest standard of care for your dog.
Before booking a session, always check:
✔️ Where they trained and what qualifications they hold
✔️ Their qualifications should be easily accessible (on their website, displayed in the clinic, etc.)
✔️ If they are registered with a professional body and have their membership on display
✔️ Their commitment to ongoing professional development
✔️ Their experience working with dogs, especially those with medical conditions
At Stage 1 Hydrotherapy, I am fully qualified, continually learning, and passionate about what I do—because your dog deserves the very best care!
Is your dog's healthcare professional as qualified as they claim to be?
