Wicked session with the beautiful beast, Axel & his owner 🩵

I had been working with Axel and his owners for a few months before going on maternity leave, so it was amazing to catch up and see how far they’ve come now that I’m back! They’ve definitely been putting the work in to help Axel with his dog reactivity and the results showed!👏🏼👏🏼

This session was to focus on the confidence and mindset of the handler - if you don’t BELIEVE that you can do it, it’s so much less likely to happen! That energy travels down the lead & the dogs can literally smell your stress hormones. With some tweaks to timing, movement, lead handling & me being a little cheerleader on the sidelines, these guys were absolutely flyyyyying 🥹

So rewarding for me to see them with that extra bounce in their step at the end of the session. Next time, we level it up again with more challenging environments & scenarios whilst they continue to get the reps in in the meantime.

Super super proud, well done guys 🥰

We know how much you love your dogs - and your children. And most of the time, things go just fine. But every year, we’re contacted by families devastated that a dog has snapped or bitten - often during busy times like school holidays.

And more often than not, the dog was showing signs they were uncomfortable… but no one realised. 😢

That’s why we’re sharing this important reminder.
It’s not about blame - it’s about awareness and safety.

🐶 Things we shouldn’t allow children to do with dogs:
🚫 Sit or lie on them
🚫 Grab their face or kiss them
🚫 Climb into their bed or crate
🚫 Disturb them while eating, chewing, or sleeping
🚫 Chase after them to grab toys or food

These moments might look sweet - but for many dogs, they feel overwhelming or even threatening. Most bites don’t come “out of the blue” - they come after a dog has been trying to say no in the only ways they know how.

📊 Did you know? 77% of dog bites come from the family dog or a friend’s dog.
These aren’t dangerous dogs - they’re just dogs who have been pushed past their comfort zone.

✅ What we can teach instead:
💛 Sit on the floor, not on the dog
💛 Pet-pet-pause - 3 seconds of gentle stroking, then stop and see if the dog wants more. If not respect their space.
💛 Let sleeping dogs lie - rest time is important for everyone
💛 Give them space when eating or chewing
💛 Let the dog choose when to interact

With supervision, kindness, and a little knowledge, dogs and children can grow up safely and happily together.

📩 If you’re ever unsure, or your dog is showing signs they’re uncomfortable, drop me a message - I’m always here to help.

EDIT: Thank you so so so much for everyone who has offered to help/ even shared this post!!! It’s because of you lot that Nelly is sleeping tonight in a new temporary and potentially permanent home, & we can sleep tonight knowing that she’s not getting put to sleep. So grateful for you all & especially to the amazing couple we met tonight willing to help train and get Nelly healthy again in their home. Now to have a cuppa and chill tf out lol ❤️❤️❤️

URGENT - TEMPORARY HOME NEEDED OR SHE WILL BE PUT DOWN TOMORROW

Breaks my absolute heart writing this. This beautiful girl, Nelly, is one of Bugzy & Sky’s puppies, she is 2 YEARS OLD. She is half Staffy, half Frenchie and soooo loving and effectionate. Due to issues that could have been sorted with training (and still can be!!) her owners have decided to have her put down, and she is booked in for TOMORROW.

I will provide free training and myself & John (my partner) are more than happy to come and help out with walks weekly if someone is not able, as we bloody love this dog and there is no way it needs to come to this.

Nelly has some medical issues where she may need her hips replaced but it’s possible this could be sorted with helping her lose weight, this is why rescue centres won’t take her. We need someone to have her temporarily until we find a permanent solution. She has been spayed.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you know anyone, or think yourself that you may be able to have her for a short while to buy her some more time then message me for more info. If not, then at least share this post!!!😥😥😥😥
