Growing up at Reptilia! 🐸💚

Our White’s Tree Frog froglets have been making incredible progress since hatching here at the zoo earlier this year!

From tiny tadpoles to these beautiful little frogs, our animal care team has been closely monitoring their development, providing specialized care, and ensuring they have everything they need to thrive.

Breeding and raising amphibians is an important part of zoological animal care, giving our team valuable experience in amphibian husbandry, development, and reproductive biology.

It’s exciting to see the next generation growing right here at Reptilia, and we look forward to sharing more updates as they continue to develop!

🐊🔴 1 DAY UNTIL CROCS AFTER DARK! 🔴🐊

Tomorrow night, the lights go down, the predators emerge, and Reptilia comes alive after dark! 👀🌙

But before the darkness falls, here’s something incredible about crocodilians…

🐊 Did you know crocodilians are some of nature’s most important ecosystem engineers?

During dry seasons, American Alligators dig and maintain depressions known as gator holes. These pockets of water become critical refuges for fish, turtles, birds, and countless other animals when surrounding wetlands begin to dry up.

🌎 Crocodilians don’t just live in wetlands. They help shape them!

And here’s another fascinating fact: crocodilians are more closely related to birds than they are to lizards or snakes. They’re the last surviving members of a remarkable evolutionary lineage that also gave rise to dinosaurs!

Protecting these misunderstood predators means protecting the biodiversity and delicate balance of entire ecosystems.

Something is lurking beneath the surface… and in just TWO DAYS, the darkness comes alive. 👀🌙

Did you know crocodilians have been around for millions of years, surviving dramatic changes to our planet? Yet today, many species face serious threats from habitat loss, pollution, and human-wildlife conflict.

These incredible predators aren’t just survivors. They’re essential to healthy ecosystems, helping maintain the balance of aquatic food webs.

🌎 Conservation starts with understanding. The more we learn about these often-feared animals, the better equipped we are to protect them.
