We just wanted to update everyone on the kitty who was secured last evening at our Sunderland colony.

Czar, named for his strength and determination, saw Dr Beshay and his team at the Animal Clinic of East Durham this morning where the remaining stub of what was his tail was amputated. Czar was also neutered and vaccinated during his surgical procedure.

We have absolutely no idea how this injury occurred and are well beyond the point of speculating. We are just thankful that Leah, our compassionate colony caregiver, was able to secure him so that he received the urgent medical attention he needed.

Dr Beshay is always forthcoming with potential long term effects of a traumatic injury such as degloving. There is of course the possibility of infection, nerve damage and incontinence so Czar will be closely monitored in the care of foster mom Carrie, where he is in kind and knowledgeable hands. He is, of course, receiving pain meds to keep him comfortable and antibiotics to treat potential infection.

For those asking, today’s surgery was approximately $800. Our sincerest gratitude to those who have already donated towards the cost of Czar’s medical care. Our medical costs have been and continue to be challenging. Almost 100% of the monies ($5012) raised from our auction was immediately used towards the cost and care of our most vulnerable, with the remainder going to food and supply costs.

Speaking of vulnerable, our foster team has advised that with many hungry “wee” tummies to feed, we are quickly depleting our kitten food supply. We are again down to 1 bag of KMR and are running extremely low on RC mom and baby cat, both wet and dry. (We have recently purchased a large amount of Pro Plan kitten wet).

Please continue to keep Czar and all of our cats and kittens in your thoughts and prayers. All are deserving of new beginnings ❤️

** INJURED CAT **

Last evening our colony caregiver in Sunderland was able to secure this kitty at our feeding station via live trap. He (or she) has been seen around the area for a few weeks.

Due to the extent of the injury, it is difficult to assess temperament or to confirm gender. He is receiving medical attention for a degloved tail (image in comment section - trigger warning).

If you recognize this kitty and know where he belongs, please PM us.

* This kitty has been reported to our friends at Brock Township Animal Shelter

Please join us in welcoming another six tiny arrivals. When the momma of these wee ones hadn’t returned to her barn home in a couple of days, we received an urgent message for help.

Six very hungry kittens, ranging from 250-360 grams joined the foster family of Dawn and family this morning, where their rumbly tummies were immediately filled.

The property owner is keeping a close watch for momma and, should she return 🙏 , she will be reunited with her littles. In the meantime, they are in the best of loving hands.

Welcome to our family sweethearts❤️

(The 7th kitten shown in the kitten puddle is our recent addition Honda who, happy to have kitten companionship, immediately snuggled in)

And last but most certainly not least, wee Toga now officially named ‘Soup’ (her family fell in love with the pic foster mom Carrie took of Toga in a bowl and decided Soup was a super sweet and appropriate name) also headed home, where a feline playmate awaited.

Happiest of new beginnings Soup! It has been a pleasure to be a part of your story ❤️

It was a Purrfect day as sweet siblings Milo and Harmony headed off to their forever. We can most certainly see a lifetime of cuddles and pampering in store for this precious pair.

Also joining us yesterday are this duo of adorab. From the most difficult of beginnings, we do know their sibling did not make it and the whereabouts of their mom is unknown 😢

Rescued by a super kind young lady who took action, the duo had to be separated on our intake yesterday as, at a modest 5/6 months young, the little lass is already in her first (and what will be her last!) heat cycle.

Our thanks to their rescuer and her family for what was truly lifesaving action. Our thanks as well to foster mom Carrie for taking the little lady into her care and foster mom Mary for welcoming the little man. The duo will be reunited post spa day.

And last evening arrived another ‘little’ who we believe to be a sibling of the 10ish day old kittens we received yesterday. We are happy to report this wee panther was reunited with his or her siblings late last evening and is now tucked in the care of foster mom Kim and family.

Welcome to the newest of beginnings sweethearts ❤️

Please join us in welcoming some new additions.

This sweet momma was living on a rural property with other moms and a caboodle of kittens. This morning, our family welcomed this momma and six of the kittens, who range from 10 days to approximately 4 weeks young. We believe this momma is the biological mom of the calico kittens, however, as we often see in properties with many cats, she is more than happy to lovingly care for all of the kittens.

Now safely tucked in the care of foster mom Kim and family, one very hungry momma immediately settled in, enjoying a meal before tending to the kittens.

Our friends at Marley's Pet Rescue are also assisting in this rescue and have welcomed another momma with kittens also varying in size and age. A third known momma, who we believe may be the biological mother of the tiniest crew, has not, as yet been secured. Between the two rescues, we hope the property owner will continue working with us to ensure everyone receives help.

Welcome to the BCC family sweethearts 🥰

It was a Purrfect day for this sweet lass as she headed off to her new home, where gentle hands and a feline friend were awaiting her arrival. As you can see, she is already enjoying cuddles.

Kitten season may be upon us but these floofers were once kittens and they too needed a helping paw 🐾

Often things quickly get out of hand in the cat world and what starts out as a couple of kitties ends up being a whole caboodle. Such was the case with these floofers and MANY of their friends. Thankfully, two wonderful rescue organizations stepped up to help and when they reached out asking if we could assist, we said absolutely.

Our five new additions will need some time to adjust to their new living arrangements but we are confident that in the caring hands of foster parents Catherine and Charles (where they will get oodles of attention on their terms), everyone will embrace the hand of kindness.

Welcome to the family kitties. It is a pleasure to be a part of your journey ❤️
