Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

Just like humans, aging makes pets more prone to painful ailments such as osteoarthritis. Cats are great at hiding pain, so it's easy to miss the signs until it gets severe.

Keep an eye out for symptoms like limping, stiffness, or not jumping as high. Chronic pain is not just physical but can affect our pets emotionally as well.

OA pain can be managed with safe, effective treatments to improve their quality of life! If you think your cat might be in pain, contact us. Together we can help them feel better.

Introducing Samantha Kyle! 💕Yes - that's her whole first name.
At just 8 weeks old, she was perfectly content snuggled in the arms of Dr. Ben — and honestly, the entire team lined up hoping for their own cuddle turn.

Samantha Kyle may have just set the record for the longest puppy first check-up appointment, simply because nobody wanted the visit to end. We can’t wait to see her again for her booster appointment in a few weeks! 🐾

At UVH, we ask for urine samples in any clean container… and today, one client truly embraced the assignment. 😂
A patient’s sample arrived carefully delivered in a clear glass drinking bottle — definitely one of the most unique vessels we’ve ever received! It gave the whole team a good pause, a laugh, and a reminder that veterinary medicine is never boring.
We appreciate the creativity and commitment to getting the sample to us safely… although we may never look at glassware the same way again. 🐾
