Welcome to Nelson Animal Hospital! A locally owned and operated veterinary hospital since 1972!

Since 1972 we are a locally owned and operated veterinary hospital providing comprehensive healthcare services to pets in Nelson and all over the West Kootenays-now seven days per week!

We currently have six veterinarians; each offering a wide variety of medical, surgical, and dental services in our veterinary clinic. We have up to date technologies and advanced equipment to provide comprehensive care for your pet such as: in house blood chemistry analysis, x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, laser therapy, surgical suite, dental suite, pharmacy, and more.

October 27 marks Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) for Pets, a beautiful tradition dedicated to remembering the animals who left pawprints on our hearts. Long before they cross the rainbow bridge, our pets teach us the truest definitions of loyalty, comfort, and unconditional love.
Whether they were patient therapy animals, loyal companions greeting you after a long shift, or the quiet comfort waiting for you at home, we honour them tonight.

Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week!

Veterinary Technicians are experts at juggling tasks - their job duties go beyond what you might think! From anesthesiology, radiographs, lab work and blood draws to cleaning copious amounts of bodily fluids off every corner of the hospital or digging through vomit with tongue depressor sticks to look for the naughty item your pet might have eaten - they are absolutely essential to the team! We couldn't do it without you, so thank you for your tireless commitment, dedication, and passion to keep pets healthy and happy ❤

Tangy is one of our acupuncture and laser patients, and she is a dream to work with! She is so calm and sweet during her procedures, it's hard not to feel relaxed while sitting next to her. Tangy enjoys spending her days giving back to the community with her mom, making people smile. She is an angel!

Today marks Tammy's last day at the Nelson Animal Hospital, which is extremely bittersweet! Tammy has devoted 10 years to providing passionate care for all of the animals, clients, and staff at the Nelson Animal Hospital. No matter the circumstances, she has always been gentle and understanding to help as many animals as possible while providing relief and comfort to our clients. Tammy has rescued hundreds of animals over the years, and it's clear how much she loves and cares for every animal. We are incredibly sad to see her leave our team, but are so excited for her next chapter. We hope Tammy can enjoy some peace and quiet on her retirement, but know she will use her time to devote herself to caring for her rescue animals and spend time with family. We are grateful for a decade of incredible service and will miss her every day! ❤🐾

We are happy to announce that Nelson Animal Hospital now has a webstore! This means you can now order your pets food and treats directly to your door.

Once your account has been activated by our staff you will be able to shop for your pet food and various pet supplies online. Please note at this time we are ONLY doing home delivery option while we get used to managing the website end of things. Prescription drugs will also continue to be filled exclusively in clinic. We do plan to expand to allowing for orders to be placed online and picked up at the clinic, but for the time being if there is something you want to pick up at the clinic we ask that you continue to call and place those orders through our wonderful reception team.
