Veterinary Appreciation Day is celebrated every year on June 18 to honor the hard work, compassion, and dedication of veterinarians, vet technicians, and clinic staff.

Today is a day to show gratitude for the team that keeps your pets healthy through everything from routine checkups to late-night emergencies.

Veterinarians and their teams manage an immense emotional and physical load. They navigate complex medical mysteries with patients who actively try to hide their symptoms (a survival instinct in many animals). They also manage the humans attached to those pets—explaining complicated diagnoses, delivering difficult news, and helping families make agonizing end-of-life decisions with empathy and grace.

It is easy to look at veterinary medicine and see a dream job filled with playful puppies and purring kittens. While those moments exist and are deeply cherished, the reality of the field is uniquely demanding and exhausting.

Our team are always learning, always finding ways to better help you and your beloved pets. Here's Dr. Meyer with two of her veterinary technicians ,Alex and Crystal, attending some training in Alberta so that they they can learn new skills to keep up-to-date and offer your pets the best possible care.

So let's all take a moment to appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes at every veterinary hospital all over the world. Because a little bit of gratitude goes a very long way. 👏💗

Look who is next to receive free treats for Tasty Treat Thursday - it's Ozzy, the miniature Sharpei, proving that wrinkles can be cute.

He has food allergies too, just like Nuvi who we saw earlier this morning, so he also chose a bag of Royal Canin hypoallergenic treats as his reward for being so brave at the vet hospital today during his wellness exam.

The sun is finally shining and it’s vacation season. 😎

Maybe your pet is lucky enough to travel with you when you take your vacation, but maybe your pet stays at home and is cared for by a friend or neighbour or even has a mini vacation of their own at a boarding facility.
Whatever the case, if your pet is not with you and is being cared for in your absence, your veterinarian will need authority from you in order to be able to treat your pet if an unfortunate, emergency health situation arises.

‼️What you need to know‼️

➡️A veterinarian cannot legally treat your pet without your consent
➡️Please make sure that your file is updated to reflect all your current information including your current address, email and phone number.
➡️Are the names on your file correct and up to date ? Sometimes personal situations change and a partner or family member might need to be added or amended on the file.
➡️Please complete our ‘pet sitter‘ form, giving us permission to treat your pet if they need to see a vet while you are away, be sure to include the name and number of the person responsible for their care in your absence. This must be the name of the person who will be bringing your pet to see the vet.

Our vacations should be fun and relaxing without the worry of what might happen to our pets while we are away, so let’s all take proactive steps to ensure that this is always the case.

Have a happy vacation season everyone ! 😎
