Happy Receptionist Week! 🐾💙

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who keep everything running smoothly at the front of our clinic — our amazing reception team!

From greeting every client with a smile, to juggling phones, schedules, and last-minute emergencies, you are the heart of our hospital. Your compassion, patience, and dedication do not go unnoticed. You’re often the first friendly face our clients see and a comforting voice during stressful moments — and that makes all the difference.

We’ve Upgraded Our System!

We’re excited to share that our clinic is now using new software to help improve your experience and the care we provide for your pets!

As our team gets fully up to speed, you may notice appointments, check-ins, or phone calls taking a little longer than usual. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this transition.

Our priority is always providing the best possible care for your furry family members, and we truly appreciate your support as we learn and grow with this new system.

Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your pets’ care! 🐾❤️

Exciting News!

We’re thrilled to share that Helping Paws is back! 💙

Helping Paws is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing basic and essential veterinary care to low-income and unhoused families in our community. Their mission is to ensure every pet gets the care they deserve—no matter the circumstances.

We’re also incredibly proud to share that members of our team will be volunteering at these clinics, helping provide compassionate care and support to pets and their families. It’s an honour for us to be part of such a meaningful initiative in our community!

To learn more about their services and find upcoming clinic dates, be sure to check out Helping Paws Nanaimo Community Animal Clinic!

👍 Don’t forget to like and share their page to help spread the word and support this incredible cause. Every share makes a difference!

The post we have all been waiting for! We are so excited to confirm dates for the next few months! Same great crew, a few new volunteer faces, and a fabulous new partnership location! We are thrilled to be partnered with Fantastic Beasts Veterinary Services Nanaimo and feel that our care will blend into their Pawsitive Care program so well.

So the details....we are keeping the same general frame work. Registration will start at 12, first come first served, pets seen between 1-3. Yes, we expect line ups like usual. We will ask folks to line up around the left side of the building towards the side roads, not in front of the building towards the highway please. No public washrooms in the vet clinic, but theres a gas station and McDonalds close by. Address: 1100 Princess Royal Ave.

Pets must be safely secured in a carrier or on a leash at all times, we are in a busy traffic area.

Please please please 🙏 let's be clean and respectful of this amazing space and opportunity that Fantastic Beasts is sharing with us. Pick up p**p, no coffee cup litter or cigarette butts. Respectful use of the space is critical.

Lastly, be patient with us while we work out the kinks in the new space and tweak the system. We will do our best to see as many pets as possible, we know many are eager for us to be up and running again. For the first couple clinics we may have to limit numbers to a few less patients while we get the workflow sorted out.

Events will be posted with dates...starting with April 12th! Woohoo here we go!!!

Tick Prevention for Your Pets

Ticks may be tiny, but they can cause big problems for our furry friends. As the weather warms up, ticks become more active and pets are at greater risk when exploring outside. Prevention is the best protection!

Tick Facts You Might Not Know:
🔎 Ticks don’t jump or fly — they wait on grass or shrubs and latch on when a pet brushes past.
🩸 Ticks feed on blood and can stay attached for several days if not found.
🦠 They can transmit diseases to pets, including Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichiosis.
🌡️ Ticks can be active anytime temperatures are above about 4°C — even in early spring and fall.
🐕 Dogs and outdoor cats are especially at risk after walks in wooded areas, tall grass, or parks.

How to Protect Your Pet:
✔ Use veterinarian-recommended tick prevention
✔ Check your pet regularly, especially around ears, neck, toes, and under the collar
✔ Keep grass trimmed and avoid tall brush when possible
✔ Contact your vet if you find a tick or notice any signs of illness

If you’re not sure which prevention product is best for your pet, our team is happy to help! Preventing ticks now can save a lot of trouble later.

📞 Call the clinic to learn more about tick prevention options for your pet!
