🐴 Sometimes, you don’t choose the horse. The horse chooses you. ❤️

At Glen Valley Stables, matching the right horse with the right rider is a big part of what we do.

Before every ride, we take a little time to meet our riders, get a feel for their personalities and consider which of our horses might be the perfect match. And more often than not, we hear those magic words when the ride is over:

“You picked the perfect horse for me!” 🥰

This week, Goose was Mom’s mount for her ride with her son. But once they returned from the trails and spent some time visiting with the horses, something pretty special happened.

Goose and her son found their own little moment. ❤️

Mom snapped this photo of the two of them completely in the zone, and we were thrilled when she gave us permission to share it.

With Summer Break 2026 coming close to an end, we want to give folks a chance to ride Tex before he returns home after Labour Day weekend!

This lovely and gentle gelding has been on loan to us for some time now, and we’re so excited for him to head home to Tara’s sister and one of our excellent guides, Carly. Tex will be spending his next chapter teaching Carly’s young daughter, Sadie, how to ride. Having been one of our most trusted kids’ horses, we know he’s going to excel in his new role! ❤️

While Tex may be available by special request in the future, we encourage everyone who has ridden him and fallen in love with him to enjoy one last guaranteed ride with Tex over the next two weeks before he heads home in early September.

We also have a couple of other lease horses returning home this fall. We’re hopeful they may return next spring, but their loving owners may decide to keep these good horses home and enjoy them themselves. Those horses are Jetta & Ghost, and we’ll keep everyone updated with their departure dates.

We don’t want anyone to miss out on a ride with these great horses! 🐴

Our good boy Kal is truly earning himself a fan club here at Glen Valley Stables! 🤎🐴

Cowboy Carson came out and rode Kal yesterday, capturing some great photos along the way and making memories he’ll hold onto forever. We just love seeing our horses create those special moments with our riders!

With school starting in less than 3 weeks, there’s still plenty of time to saddle up with us if you haven’t made it out yet! ☀️🌲 Kids 6 years and up can ride, and there’s no better time than summer to hit the trails.

One heck of a weekend spent horseback in one of British Columbia’s provincial gems! 🏔️🐴

The weather, the trails, the atmosphere and, of course, the horses sure did not disappoint for everyone who joined us at Golden Ears. There’s something pretty special about stepping into a place like this on horseback and leaving the everyday behind for a few hours.

The reviews from riders who have experienced this adventure speak for themselves, with many describing their Golden Ears ride as a core memory. And we can certainly understand why. ❤️

While we’ll be returning to our home base of Campbell Valley Park as of Tuesday, don’t fret if you were hoping to experience Golden Ears horseback!

Meet Kal! 🤠

This handsome fellow has only been with us for a short time, but it’s been a great time so far. Kal is a well-schooled, gentle gelding in his late teens who spent the last several years teaching riders at a local riding stable. Along the way, he helped students compete at dressage shows, and before his teaching days, he was a trusted trail horse, carrying his owner on adventures just about everywhere.

Previously known as Keelahan, we shortened his name to Kal to make it a little easier to say—and we think it suits him perfectly.

Kal is an absolute stunner. He’s taken everything here in stride and has quickly become a favourite among both riders and photographers. Standing approximately 15.3 hands high, this proud gelding has a truly noble presence. We’re told he’s a Quarter Horse cross, although exactly what he’s crossed with remains a bit of a mystery. Whatever the combination, it certainly produced one striking horse.

August Long Weekend is galloping in like the Pony Express! 🤠🐴 Our saddles are filling up fast, but we still have a few limited ride times available—including Monday, August 3, as we’re OPEN for the holiday!

There’s no better way to spend a summer day than horseback riding through the beautiful trails of Campbell Valley Park with friends and family. Our forested trails stay shaded and cool, making for a comfortable ride even on warm days.

Kids 6 years and up can ride with us, and no cowboy or cowgirl is too old to swing a leg over one of our trusty steeds!
