It’s that amazing time of year! The Mount Albert Sports Day Weekend & Spring Fair Pet Contest is this Sunday! If you’re 16 or under and have a pet you would like to show off to the town, and win great prizes doing so, then register online at www.mountalbertsportsday.com.

We have nine events to participate in! Thanks to many local sponsors, we hope to make this show the biggest yet! Thank you to Reikon Inc, Randy Perry Electric, Franos Pizza and Panini, Allossery Equine, Unified K9 Behaviour Centre, Karen’s Grooming, Show U Off Property Services, and Steve Flemming!
You can also register starting at 10 am this Sunday on the grass next to the baseball diamond. The contest will start at 11 am. We can’t wait to see you all with your smiling, furry pets!

This heartwarming surprise on Monday morning was a powerful reminder of the profound impact we have on our community. As veterinarians, we are deeply passionate about animal welfare and strive to make a difference in the lives of as many pets as possible. Although we can't cure every illness, we pour our hearts into providing exceptional care. It's devastating when we're unfairly blamed for circumstances beyond our control, leading to feelings of deep sadness and hurt. This unfair criticism has driven some veterinarians to leave the profession or, tragically, take their own lives. Yet, in this moment, someone acknowledged our tireless efforts to care for pets in need, and it was a beautiful testament to the positive impact we have. It's uplifting to receive a thank you, but the truth is, we don't need it. Witnessing the joy that pets bring to people's lives and strengthening the human-animal bond is the greatest reward we could ask for – it's an honor and a privilege that inspires us every day.

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday. Remember to set aside time for personal and family well-being. Growing up, Sundays were a day for family gatherings. I recommend reviving such customs.
