🐴 Kuruka Equestrian Counselor in Training (CIT) Program 🐴

Ready to take your riding and horsemanship to the next level?

Our Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is designed for young riders who want more than a traditional camp experience. This unique program combines daily riding lessons, hands-on horse experience, leadership development, and mentoring opportunities, all while enjoying the fun and friendships that make summer camp so special.

Throughout the week, CITs will:

✨ Participate in a riding lesson every day
✨ Improve their equitation and horsemanship skills
✨ Learn how to safely lead groups of riders and horses
✨ Assist beginner campers during lessons and activities
✨ Help with horse care and daily barn responsibilities
✨ Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
✨ Learn from our certified Equine Canada coaching staff
✨ Enjoy fun camp activities and build lasting friendships

At Kuruka Equestrian, we are committed to providing a safe, educational, and rewarding environment where young riders can grow in confidence both in and out of the saddle. Our riding curriculum follows the Long-Term Equestrian Development (LTED) principles of the Coaching Association of Canada, helping riders build strong foundations and good horsemanship habits that will benefit them for years to come.

📍 Ages 11–15

🐎 Riders must be confidently cantering in lessons to participate.

📋 Riders who do not currently ride at Kuruka Equestrian will be required to complete a riding assessment prior to acceptance into the program. The CIT program requires a level of independence, control, and riding ability necessary to safely participate in all program activities.

What a way to kick off our first Silver show weekend of the season!

This weekend was filled with learning opportunities, personal bests, great rounds, ribbons, and countless moments that made us proud.

A special thank you to Ten Sixty Stables for hosting a wonderful run show weekend. The footing was excellent, the facility looked fantastic, and our riders thoroughly enjoyed their experience.

These past two weekends marked the first shows of the season for both our Everett Show Team and Teen Ranch Show Team.

We had the opportunity to compete at two fantastic new venues to us! Our horses performed exceptionally well, and we were proud to see excellent sportsmanship demonstrated by our riders and families throughout the weekend.

As with any first show of the season, there were a few learning curves along the way, but everyone handled them with patience, positivity.. We were proud to see our riders support one another, adapt when needed, and make the most of every experience.

A special thank you to all of the riders from the barn who took the time to come out and support both teams. Your encouragement, enthusiasm, and team spirit did not go unnoticed!

As coaches, we are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and positive attitudes shown by everyone involved. It was a great start to the season, and we look forward to building on this momentum throughout the summer.

We are excited to see our Silver North Team kick off their season next week and wish them the best of luck at their first show!

Sienna ❤️
Treasured Memories 2018-2026
Unfortunately, despite the drive to OVC we lost our wonderful Sienna to colic last night.

Sienna was one of those superstar schoolies just at the beginning of her job teaching riders. She loved to work. I felt so lucky to have found her two years ago when we had lost Pirate to colic. We needed a lesson horse asap to fill his large role and she did just that.
We are so sad 💔
She was loved by so many riders here but especially her part boarder Ella 💞
