Despite the heat, we have a great session tonight.

Our participants tonight ended the day with words like "communication", "comforting" and "confidence"

Those words are music to my ears, because they mean that people are learning something about themselves

I did catch Teddy mid yawn in the heat.🥰

One Hoof at a Time is a monthly program for professionals in uniform (active or retired) affected by PTSD / OSI. It is free of charge thanks to our community sponsors (The Forsyth Team) and our volunteers.

We have 10 spots open on a first come first serve basis. We do not talk about trauma, we focus on rebuilding life skills with our horses.

When your mentor praises you, you take it and say thank you! I am very proud to be a Dreamwinds Equine Assisted Learning Centre graduate of 2016.

Meet Maud Revel! Maud runs New Horserizons in Barrie, Ontario. Maud is the poster child for building a dream without having all the pieces in place. A lifelong horse girl, Maud came to Dreamwinds with a dream of helping Veterans and First Responders. She had no horses and no facility of her own...and she still doesn't!

Like many of our graduates, Maud partners with a local equestrian center to offer her programs. She partnered with local peer support groups and obtained sponsorship from local businesses to be able to offer her "One Hoof At A Time" program at not cost to participants!

I had the pleasure of running a session with a totally new exercise tonight, turning horses into "vehicles" to explore personal accountability.
From Murphy the 25 year old Ferrari to Otis the Mini Cooper, there was fun to be had all around.

Our "drivers" tried to be sneaky but our law enforcement facilitators caught them doing illegal U-turns, stunt driving, illegal moving of MTO property, illegal walking on a 400 series hwy...

We had unusual words come up at the end of the discussion... "surprising", "adaptability", "creative rule breaking"

A very good session all around "driving for success"

I am not sure if it is only a Scottish thing but we'll get behind this to celebrate our own unicorns...
