🐾 Meet Bean and Juno 🐾
These two stunning sighthounds visited NEVS recently and completely charmed the team! Juno is a gentle Irish Wolfhound, and Bean is a graceful Scottish Deerhound and both were total superstars during their visit.

We loved having these elegant giants with us while we made sure they were safe and well cared for.

🐾🌍 Happy International Cat Day! 🌍🐾
Today we’re celebrating all things feline - from the tiniest toe beans to the biggest personalities 🐱

We’re especially grateful for our very own Barney and Enzo, our beloved clinic cats who keep the office team both entertained and on their toes. Whether they’re supervising their staff, demanding attention, or perfecting the art of the nap, they bring so much joy to our team.

Cats make wonderful companions, they are full of quirks, character, and affection. They also deserve vet care that truly understands them. That’s why we’re proud to be an ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic, with dedicated spaces and staff trained to reduce stress for our feline patients.

Whether it’s an emergency or just something doesn’t seem right, we’re here to help.

🐾 The cutest nose in town! 🐶💛

Milo the labradoodle was referred to NEVS by our member clinic, Willoughby Vet, after a few days of vomiting, diarrhoea, and low energy. With a history of pancreatitis and signs of delayed gastric emptying, his vets were concerned about a possible obstruction.

Thanks to seamless collaboration between clinics, Milo’s owners had peace of mind knowing he was in expert hands for overnight monitoring, imaging, and supportive care.

An ultrasound ruled out a foreign body, and by morning, Milo was eating, comfortable, and on the mend. Follow-up testing is planned with his regular vet to rule out any underlying conditions.

We’re glad you’re feeling better, Milo! 💛

🌧️ Agility Event Postponed 🐾

Unfortunately, due to the wet weather and safety concerns for both dogs and humans, tomorrow's agility event has been postponed.

We’re disappointed too, but the health and safety of our four-legged friends always comes first. We’ll let you know as soon as a new date is confirmed.

Stay dry, give your pups an extra cuddle, and keep an eye on our page for updates!

🚨 Increased Cases of Kennel Cough on the Northern Beaches 🚨

We’re seeing a rise in kennel cough (canine infectious respiratory disease) across the Northern Beaches. It’s highly contagious and spreads quickly in places like dog parks, doggy daycare, kennels, and grooming salons.

👃 Common signs include:
A harsh, honking cough
Sneezing or nasal discharge
Lethargy or reduced appetite

💉 Vaccination helps reduce severity, but dogs can still catch and spread it. If your dog is coughing, keep them home and speak to your vet. Avoid contact with other dogs until they’ve recovered.

📞 If your dog is having trouble breathing or you’re worried about a persistent cough, NEVS is available after hours to help when your local vet is closed. We’re open overnight, on weekends, and public holidays.

🚗🐾 Eddie the golden retriever had a rough start to the weekend after being hit by a car on Friday evening. His owners noticed he was limping, and thankfully they brought him straight to NEVS.

At admission, Eddie had grazes, some bleeding, and was clearly sore on his right front leg. We performed radiographs and found a small, minimally displaced fracture in his distal ulna. The good news - It didn’t require surgery.

Our team provided overnight care, including pain relief, bandaging (a sturdy Robert Jones bandage with splint), and monitoring. Eddie was a little anxious and not too keen on eating at first, but by the next day he was up, panting comfortably, and even managed to eat some chicken.

Eddie’s now back home and will continue his recovery with the team at Greencross Brookvale, who will be handling his bandage changes and follow-up x-rays.
We’re wishing this sweet boy a smooth recovery and lots of couch cuddles while he heals. 💛

OWNER HAS BEEN FOUND - THANK YOU

This entire (not desexed) young cat (approx 5-6 months of age) has been brought into NEVS this morning found by a caring member of the public on the side of the road. Unfortunately he does not have a microchip and has been involved in an accident. He is receiving medical care here at NEVS, but may require surgery so we desperately need to find his people. He looks loved and well cared for, so we expect someone will be missing him. He was found in Nareen Parade North Narrabeen. Hoping our wonderful social media community can help reunite him with his owners.
Please call 9452 2933 if you can help.
