Say hello to Dr Liam and yes, that adorable cavoodle approves. 💙

We are so proud to introduce the newest member of the Allambie Vet family. Dr Liam brings something truly special to our team and to every single patient who walks through our doors.

Growing up on a working sheep, cattle and cropping farm in rural NSW, Liam didn’t choose to love animals. He just always did. After graduating, he spent four years as an experienced veterinarian in a busy regional practice — treating everything from horses and alpacas to complex small animal surgical cases. It was there he discovered a deep passion for small animal medicine and surgery that has never left him.

Now he calls the Northern Beaches home. And we’re so glad he does.

What you’ll notice about Dr Liam from the moment you meet him is how genuinely he cares. He understands that your pet is family and he treats every patient like they’re his own. He has a particular soft spot for older patients and brings a calm, thorough and compassionate approach to every consultation.

Oh — and he has a one-kidneyed rescue Kelpie named Bullseye at home. Safe to say, he walks the talk. 🐕

If you’ve been looking for a trusted, experienced and genuinely caring vet team on the Northern Beaches — you’ve found us. And we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Dr Liam to the family. 💙

📅 Dr Liam is now consulting at Allambie Vet.

Book online or call us today — we’d love to introduce you.

🌡️ Heat Wave Alert – Northern Beaches 🌡️
With the current hot weather, we’re already seeing how quickly pets can struggle in the heat. Heat stroke can happen fast and can be life-threatening.

Here are some simple but important ways to keep your pets safe 👇

🐶 Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day
Stick to early mornings or later evenings. If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws.

💧 Fresh water & shade at all times
Indoors and outdoors — top up water bowls regularly and provide cool, shaded areas.

❄️ Keep pets cool indoors
Fans, air conditioning, cooling mats, and well-ventilated spaces can make a big difference.

🚗 Never leave pets in cars — not even for a minute
Temperatures rise dangerously fast, even on mild-looking days.

😮‍💨 Extra care for flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds
Breeds like Pugs, Bulldogs, Cavaliers and Shih Tzus are at higher risk and should avoid heat and exertion altogether.

🚨 Know the warning signs
Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, collapse or distress — if you’re worried, seek veterinary care immediately.

If you’re ever unsure, it’s always safer to call us. We’d much rather check a patient early than too late 💙

Our experienced veterinary team includes vets with advanced Emergency & Critical Care (FCertECC) training, allowing us to assess, stabilise and treat heat stroke and other emergencies quickly when every minute counts.

Stay cool and look after each other (and your furry family) during this heat wave ☀️🐾

✨ Farewell 2025, Welcome 2026 ✨

As we say goodbye to 2025 and welcome the year ahead, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families and beloved pets who trust us with their care. It’s a privilege to look after your family members, and we’re so grateful to be part of your lives. We look forward to continuing to support you in 2026.

🎆 Fireworks & Your Pets 🎆
While fireworks are exciting for many of us, they can be stressful and frightening for our pets. A little preparation can make a big difference:

🏷️ Check ID & Microchip Details
Make sure your pet’s collar ID and microchip details are current, just in case they become frightened and try to escape.

🏠 Keep Pets Secure Indoors
Bring pets inside early and keep doors, windows, and gates closed. Create a quiet, familiar space where they feel safe.

🎶 Reduce Noise & Visual Stimuli
Close curtains and play soft music, white noise, or the TV to help mask sudden bangs and flashes.

🛋️ Offer Comfort & Reassurance
Let pets choose where they feel safest. Some want company, others prefer a quiet hideaway both are completely normal.

🥂 Festive Food Safety
Keep alcohol, rich foods, and festive treats well out of reach, as many can be harmful to pets.

🎇 With a little planning, New Year’s Eve can be calmer and safer for everyone. If you’re worried about your pet, our team is always happy to help.

Thank you for an incredible year.
Wishing you and your pets a safe, happy, and healthy New Year 🐶🐱✨

✨ Molly’s smile says it all 🐕💛

This gorgeous 7-year-old Labrador has been through not one, but two TPLO surgeries at Allambie Vet after injuring the cruciate ligaments in both her back legs.

Thanks to Dr Kate and Dr Linda, Molly has made a full recovery and is back to enjoying her favourite park adventures 🐾.

If your dog is limping, holding up a back leg, or struggling after exercise, it could be a partial or full cruciate ligament tear — one of the most common orthopaedic conditions in dogs.

At Allambie Vet on the Northern Beaches, our experienced vets Dr Kate and Dr Linda perform TPLO surgery right here in-clinic, with a capped surgery fee. Your pet stays in a familiar, supportive environment, cared for by the team you know and trust.

👉 Read Molly’s full story and learn more about our capped TPLO surgery fee below.
