😻 7 years of Gold Standard care 😻

We’re very proud to celebrate our 7 years as a Gold Accredited Cat Friendly Clinic! Because every whisker, purr, and paw deserves calm, compassionate care. Here’s to making vet visits less stressful and more feline-friendly, one cat at a time 💚

Nurses teaching nurses, because experience is the best textbook!

There’s something powerful about nurses learning from other nurses. Real-world experience, honest conversations and knowledge that makes a difference to practice on the floor.

Every skill shared, every story told, every lesson passed on, strengthens our profession.

When we share what we know, we elevate our practice and support one another to deliver better care. From clinical skills to critical thinking, mentorship to moments of resilience. When nurses share their knowledge, confidence grows and patient care improves.

At The Pet Specialists, one of our Core Values is to ‘Learn and Share the Wisdom (Be a Sponge)', because the strongest teams are the ones that teach, learn and grow together

Hypothyroidism in dogs can be life-changing to treat, but only when it’s truly hypothyroidism 🐾

It’s one of the most commonly over diagnosed hormonal conditions seen by our Internal Medicine team. Why? Because the signs can be vague, overlap with other diseases, and thyroid hormone levels are often affected by illness or medications unrelated to the thyroid itself.

🔎 A low thyroid result alone does not equal hypothyroidism.

Accurate diagnosis requires:
✔ Consistent clinical signs
✔ Supportive bloodwork findings
✔ Careful interpretation alongside the patient’s full clinical picture

Thyroid testing is most valuable in dogs with a strong clinical suspicion of disease, helping ensure the right patients receive the right treatment.

Sometimes, when you’re at the vets, only a cuddle from mum will do 🐾

For more anxious pets like Bear, we do everything we can to make their visit as calm and stress-free as possible. Bear travelled all the way from Mudgee to see Dr Josh (Internal Medicine Registrar) for a liver review.

After such a big trip, we made sure Bear got plenty of TLC, cuddles, and comfort along the way 💚

Who could resist booping this tongue?

This is Ziggy who presented to our Internal Medicine team for a cystoscopy, which is a minimally invasive procedure that allows us to look inside the bladder using a tiny camera. It assists with the diagnosis and sometimes even the treatment of urinary issue, without the need for major surgery.

What a cutie!

Chanel has quickly become one of the sweetest little patients in our Medicine Department 💚

At just 5.2 kg, she may be tiny, but her gentle nature has made her a big favourite with the team.

She’s currently being treated for pyelonephritis (a kidney infection), with Dr Josh Bool (Internal Medicine Registrar) supporting her kidney function while keeping her comfortable and her appetite strong.

We’re so pleased with how well Chanel is progressing at her recheck appointments and we always love seeing her adorable little face when she comes to visit 🐶

🍼 I am stepping into a new chapter… parental leave. Like many professional women, I’m sitting with a mix of emotions 🍼

Personally, I’m incredibly excited. After a long and complex fertility journey, we will be welcoming baby #2 into our family. Professionally, I feel a genuine sense of sadness stepping away from a team, clients and patients I care deeply about. Work, for me, has never just been 'a job'. It’s a space where I feel connected, challenged and purposeful.

You can love what you do and still feel completely ready to pause and focus on your family. This is where I find myself. I’m so grateful to be part of a team that makes it hard to leave. That says a lot in itself.

For now, I’m leaning into this next season, whole-heartedly trusting that the work will continue, the team will keep thriving and I’ll return with a slightly different perspective.

See you on the other side 💚
