Dental disease rarely arrives with a dramatic sign. It starts as a soft film of plaque along the gumline, the kind you would barely notice. Within days that plaque hardens into tartar, and once it sits under the gum it begins to damage the tissue and bone that hold the tooth in place.

This is why more than 4 in 5 dogs have some form of dental disease by the age of 3. It is not a reflection of neglect. It is simply how quickly the process moves when nothing interrupts it.

The reassuring part is that it is both preventable and treatable, especially when it is caught early. A dental check lets us see what is happening below the gumline, where the real trouble hides, long before it reaches the point of pain or tooth loss.

If your dog has not had their teeth looked at in a while, it is worth a check. Book through the link in our bio.

Ten years, two cats, and countless checkups later, Ruby is still with us. Messages like this mean the world to our team.

Thank you to Ruby, and to every family who has trusted us with their pets over the years. Looking after them, year after year, is exactly why we do this. Looking for a local vet who will know your pet by name for the long run? Book a visit through the link in our bio.

If you have brought an older pet to us, chances are you have met Dr. Sandra. She is one of the reasons families stay with us for years, and she has a particular soft spot for our senior patients.

Ask her and she will tell you the same thing every time. Older pets are not a lost cause, they are a stage of life that deserves just as much attention as the puppy and kitten years, often more. A grey muzzle is not a reason to do less. It is a reason to look more closely.

That philosophy shapes how we care for every senior pet who walks through our door, whether they are here for a routine check or something that needs a gentle, experienced hand.

If your older pet is due for a visit, we would love to see them. Book through the link in our bio and Dr. Sandra or one of our team will take good care of them.

Some older pets start to seem a little lost. They stand in the wrong corner of a familiar room, pace at night, forget cues they have known for years, or seem less sure of themselves than they used to be. It is easy to put down to age, and it is easy to miss.

Cognitive change in senior pets is real, and it is more common than most owners realise. The comforting part is that there is a lot we can do to help, from routine and environment changes to specific support, once we know what we are dealing with.

Just as importantly, some of these signs can overlap with other conditions worth ruling out. A wander at night is not always the same as a wander caused by discomfort or another underlying issue.

If your older pet seems more confused or restless lately, it is worth a check. Book a visit through the link in our bio and we will help you understand what is going on.

The later years often mean more to keep track of. More frequent checks, preventative care, medications, and the little adjustments that keep an older pet comfortable. It can feel like a lot to stay on top of.

This is exactly where our Wellness Plans earn their place. For a set monthly cost, they bundle together the preventative care your pet needs, with home delivery of products, free consults, and nurse triage when you have a question that does not quite need an appointment. For senior pets, that steady, organised care is a real relief.

It is not a loyalty card. It is a simpler way to give an older pet consistent, proactive care without the mental load of remembering everything yourself.

Want to know if a Wellness Plan suits your senior pet? Book a visit or ask us through the link in our bio and we will walk you through it.
