Total elbow replacement is one of the rarest and most specialised procedures in veterinary medicine, and we’re proud to offer it at MediPaws. 🏥

Watson, a very sweet and brave 5-year-old Labrador, was referred to MediPaws after previous bilateral elbow surgeries and ongoing pain that was not responding to medical management.
After careful planning, Dr. Dan James and our surgical team performed a total elbow replacement - one of the most specialised orthopaedic procedures available in veterinary medicine, and a surgery offered by only two veterinary surgeons across Australia.
The procedure was a success, and Watson is now on the road to recovery.

Rosie was a little TOO committed to her treat 😳

Gorgeous Rosie, who is a 6-month-old Kelpie x, visited us after managing to get her hollow marrow bone stuck around her jaw!

These cheeky accidents can happen very quickly, especially with playful pups who love a good chew! With a light sedation and a gentle little technique of easing back the skin under her jaw, we were able to slide the bone right off ✨

Rosie recovered beautifully and was back to her happy, smiley self in no time, ready for cuddles at home. 💛

Kimba is a 10-year-old Cavoodle who was referred to our Internal Medicine team for management of bilateral nephroliths and a right-sided ureterolith causing secondary hydronephrosis.

Due to the degree of obstruction and associated discomfort, Kimba underwent cystoscopic ureteral stent placement to relieve the right-sided obstruction and decompress the affected kidney. A stent was also placed on the left to support ongoing medical management and help facilitate dissolution of the nephroliths.

This was a true team effort between our Internal Medicine and Surgery teams, with specialists and nursing staff all working together to coordinate Kimba’s care.

These advanced, minimally invasive procedures are highly specialised, and Dr Dennis Woerde is one of only a handful of specialists in Australia currently performing this treatment.

A big thank you to .uni.vet for trusting us to be part of Kimba’s care. We truly value collaborating on cases like this.

We’re so pleased that Kimba recovered well and was able to head home the following day, already feeling much more comfortable 💛
