Collection includes basic in house analysis of motility and concentration with frozen semen storage arranged in specialised liquid nitrogen tanks. As many parts of Western Australia continue to encounter an extended dry period the burden of sand in our horses is at a much greater risk. Abdominal x-rays to check for sand accumulation, especially as a part of colic investigations is a great way to detect variations of sand build up in the large colon.
If sand is present there are many solutions moving forward to resolve this however early detection is key!
