Our team loves it when we can make a patient relaxed enough to have a treat while having a small procedure done.
Tube treats are the go for the feline friends!
It takes years of practiced skill, gentle handling and patience which is all demonstrated here.

🎓Teaching the next generation ...
MalagaVet regularly hosts both Vet and Vet Nurse students so they can gain invaluable hands-on experience in practice.
Our role is to teach them the skills they will use straight away, and help build their confidence with real life experience.
Pictured here:
Vet Nurse student Caitlyn has infectious enthusiasm and its great to be able to help her in her studies by providing a work placement for her.
Our patient Koda is a very sweet natured dog who willingly cooperates with what the vet nurses ask of her, and gets spoiled with treats and cuddles. Chloe's sharing her experience as a qualified Nurse to perfect the mix!

🌺Lest We Forget🌺

We remember not only our human family members who have served over the years, but also the animals that assisted the armed forces. Carrying heavy burdens and sometimes even messages their loyalty and ability to endure are not forgotten.

MalagaVet will be CLOSED for the ANZAC public holidays - this includes Saturday 25th and Monday 27th April.

In case of Emergency please call our colleagues at Vet24 Balcatta on 63185300 for assistance. Have a safe and peaceful weekend.

The Human - Animal Bond
This is why we do what we do everyday.
We were reminded of this in the past week when one of our long time patients Lucy was very unwell and her human Tom was equally distressed.
Lucy means the world to Tom and our team worked hard to help her get back to health and her regular walks with Tom. You may have seen them walking along West Coast Drive where Tom is well known for giving high 5's to runners going past!
It is always stressful for owners when pets are sick, and as your vet we share the concern and worry when treating such valued companions.
We know how much they matter.

🐣I love Easter time, with beautiful weather and the smell of toasting hot cross buns!

🐣With treats such as these and chocolate in abundance around the house at this time of year it pays to be careful that our pet friends are kept well away from it all, especially the Easter Egg Hunt. No-one wants an emergency trip to the vet to add to the daily things-to-do list!

🐣Please note our changed opening hours over the Easter Weekend:
🐰Good Friday 3rd April - CLOSED
🐰Saturday 4th April - OPEN 8am - 4pm
🐰Sunday 5th & Monday 6th - CLOSED
If you're heading away drive safely and have a wonderful time!

🛁 Every dog and cat needs a regular bath, even if they are ornamental!
After having some maintenance work done at the practice we noticed our ornamental fur friends were rather filthy and needed some emergency grooming!

⚕ Senior Nurse Chris to the rescue!

🐾 Pickles, Roly, Goldie and Coco are now sparkling and back to their regular haunt on the front shelf, watching over the waiting room!

⭐The Best Bits⭐

🐾 The award for cutest boy pup this week goes to my little Red Heeler mate "Quo", pictured here.

🐾 Quo was in to have his final puppy vaccine and health check up and was a very well behaved lad on the examination table for me.

🐾Please note - treats were most definitely used in obtaining this very cute attentive picture!

🔥Heatwave warning 🔥
With temperatures set to soar for the rest of the week, please plan to take extra care of your furry and feathered friends!
💧 make sure there is access to fresh water and shade if pets are outside
🏃 exercise pets only in the early mornings or late evenings
🐾 keep pets indoors in air conditioning where possible
⚕ if your have a Bulldog or other Brachy breed - the air con is not negotiable!
❄ give cooling treats like ice blocks made of frozen bone broth
🐦 use fans and misters or sprinklers on aviaries to help cool off pet birds
🌿 think about leaving some water in a bird bath outside for the wildlife that might also be very thirsty!

If you follow us, you'll know we love our Greyhound patients here at MalagaVet.
The variety of colours and personalities is vast!
We loved seeing Rocky and Sunny who are like two peas in a pod from their colour and markings right down to the way they stand and move in sync!
Both are very sweet natured and a good example of how good Greyhounds can be as pets.
Have you thought of adopting or fostering a Greyhound?
There is still a big demand for loving homes and carers, if you think you might be able to help contact one of our rescue organisations today:
