Did you know that ear problems can be related to allergies in your dogs?
Our sad Frenchie Friend is feeling a bit forlorn with his fate because of exactly this problem.
Just in the same way people get eczema, dogs can suffer a similar chronic allergic skin disease. Most often this is a lifelong condition that can be managed, but not cured.
Symptoms include LOTS of itchiness, scratching, licking and head shaking as they try to alleviate the irritation. This combination results in some very unhappy pups indeed!
So...if your pup is doing any of these things and causing the skin to be red, smelly or is losing their hair, simply book a skin consultation with a vet at MalagaVet today.

We are hoping that there may be people who still buy newspapers regularly! We have just about run out of our supply and need some more clean newspapers for use in our kennels. They can be dropped off at our reception any time during opening hours. Thanks! 📰

It can happen to anyone!
Meet the beautiful "Peach" a 6 year old Groodle who has a naughty habit of eating toys.
A particular favourite is a small soft toy such as the one pictured, like an Ooshie!
Luckily her Vet Nurse mum Jordarna noticed the toy went missing, and brought Peach in promptly to make her vomit.
We know the picture is a bit gross - can you see the toy at the top right?
Better to get it out this way than risk a bowel obstruction!
If your dog is like Peach and loves to eat things it is wise to act quickly rather than "wait and see" what happens. A bowel blockage is no laughing matter.
So, if something has gone missing and you're getting a guilty look from your pooch you know what to do......!

Have you heard about or seen post-surgery body suits for pets?

Check out one of our first patients Bobby who was fitted out in a comfy soft suit! The fabric is soft, breathable and stretchy, they zip up easily on the back of your pet and are machine washable.

Friday Best Bits 😍
A litter of gorgeous Boxer pups cam our way for their first vaccinations.
Luckily they each had their own colour collar, otherwise we were in trouble knowing who was who!
They were all extremely brave and came through their examination and injections without any fuss.
Finished it off with a snooze on the floor and on each other!
It was a shame to have to wake them up for the trip home!

👁 Introducing Floyd, a big boofer with a heart of gold 💖
We met him a couple of weeks ago when he was suffering from a painful eye condition called entropion. This is where the eyelids roll inward and irritate and damage to the eye. We all know how painful it is to have a hair in your eye - ouch!
You can see him squinting painfully in the first picture 😢
The good news for Floyd is that it is a problem that can be cured with a little bit of eyelid surgery to correct the eyelid position.
In his post op pictures you can see he is now opening his eyes comfortably and having treats! We're so happy we could help you Floyd ☺️

Have you ever seen an actual bladder stone?
I bet you can spot this one on the xray!
This is a common problem and any breed can be affected.
Stones form when urine is very concentrated, crystals will form and then grow and attach to one another.
This process takes a long time, especially to grow to the size seen in our xray and post op photo, 5cm long like an egg!
Pets usually will show signs of urinary problems, like straining to p*e, accidents in the house and blood in their urine. I do have to say that they are also very good at hiding this from us, until things are quite dramatic as per our stone case today.
If your pet shows any of these signs, get us a "wee" sample and book a check up for them today.....

🐾 Did you know that puppies and kittens have baby teeth just like us?
🐾This first set of temporary teeth usually come out of their own accord starting at about 5 months of age.
🐾 Occasionally these teeth don't get pushed out by the new adult tooth and we end up with a double tooth situation as seen in the picture
🐾 Retained teeth are a problem as food and hair get caught in them, contributing to plaque accumulation and can cause cavities in the new adult tooth
🐾 This is really common in the "Oodles" which are a popular dog breed right now. In the case of the pup in the picture, this means they'll need to have these retained teeth extracted by our vets under general anaesthetic
🐾 Have you had a look at your puppy's mouth lately? We're here to help check this for you when they're next in for a checkup
