😺Purr-fectly Perambulating Pussy-cats - Lexi Moon and Lucki Muffin 😺
These two cuties made my day during the week.
They arrived in style, wheeled in their custom cat-pram accompanied by their humans.
Lucki shows how going to the vet is done with no stress and a smile 😻
Her little sister Lexi had her vaccine and returned to the pram to head on home and get on with the day. Its a tough life!!!

🐝Bee and Insect Stings are No Joke! 🐝
As amusing as these poor swollen faces may be, some pets can suffer life threatening anaphylactic reactions needing emergency veterinary care, similar to a person with nut allergy. Aside from the initial pain reaction from a sting, signs of an anaphylactic reaction are:
🐾 Vomiting and/or diarrhoea
🐾 Sudden weakness or collapse
🐾 Pale gums
🐾 Seizures
🐝Its best to make your way straight to the vet if you think this has or is happening to your fur-baby for emergency treatment. Call when it is safe to do so in transit to let us know you're on your way.
🐝Testing and De-sensitization to bee venom can be organised by referral to a Vet Dermatologist for those pets who are super sensitive! Just ask us if this is something you might need for your pet

"Otto" (our wonderful 'hound receptionist!) wants to share some Grey-t news with you. As lovers of Greyhounds we are happy to hear of the Tasmanian government's decision to phase out Greyhound Racing for good by 2029. 🎉
Well done to those who have fought for this change in Tassie.
I can only hope that in the coming years our State Government might take heed of the changing attitudes of the community toward animal racing industries. I look forward to a time when we can look back and say thank goodness we stood up for those who can't speak for themselves.
To our State Leaders - please listen to the community and say "No More Animal Suffering" when the decision comes across your desk.....

Isn't it great to see a familiar face when you are experiencing a stressful time with your pets? Our Senior Veterinary Nurse Chris has been part of MalagaVet since the day the doors opened way back in 2005! You will have seen her at reception and heard her voice on the phone, she will have held your pets and maybe you when you needed some comfort at a tough time. What an amazing wealth of experience, knowledge and personal care she has given to you, and your pets through the years. You and I are lucky to know her and have her with MalagaVet to this day. **IMPORTANT UPDATE**
We have now been made aware that the Homesafe website is no longer hosted so vet hospitals and the relevant authorities can no longer look up pet details. It was previously accessible but no longer, so there are potentially many pets who won't be able to be reunited with their owners.

It has come to light recently that Homesafe id, a WA based microchip registry has closed down and will no longer provide services for finding pets that are registered with them. If you happen to know your pet's microchip number, go to petaddress.com.au, enter their number and it will tell you which registry they are with. Central animal records (CAR) and Australian Animal Records (AAR) are NOT affected by this. If your pet is with Homesafe, it would be best to go to either of the alternate sites and register them online. If you don't have your pets microchip number, give us a call and we can look it up for you (or alternatively scan them at Malagavet) and let you know who they are registered with. If any of your pets were microchipped at Malagavet, you will not have to worry as we have only ever registered pets with AAR or CAR.

Andrew has a strong passion for the veterinary industry, helping people and helping animals to live healthy and long, happy lives. Andrew has been with the MalagaVet team for the past two years where his caring nature has genuinely shone through with you - our clients. His special interests include native wildlife care and he absolutely adores rescue Greyhounds. In his spare time you might find him volunteering at one of these activities around Perth. No problem is too big or small for Andrew to help you with. Next time you visit make sure you and your pets give him a big hello!
