ANZAC Day: Honouring Animal Heroes
Lest we forget the paws, the hooves, and the wings. 🇦🇺🇳🇿

This ANZAC Day, we honour the silent heroes who served alongside our diggers. From the Waler who endured the desert heat to the donkeys hauling the wounded up Gallipoli’s cliffs, their bravery knew no bounds.

Dogs braved shell holes, camels carried the heavy loads, and pigeons flew through gunfire to deliver life-saving messages. Even kangaroos, koalas, and roosters served as mascots, bringing a piece of home to the chaos of war.

Most never saw Australian soil again. Bound by quarantine, thousands were left behind — a heartbreaking farewell for the men they protected.
Behind these animals stood the Australian Army Veterinary Corps, treating battle wounds and fighting nail injuries that threatened to lame horses on the Western Front.

Today, we remember the thousands of young Australians and New Zealanders who laid down their lives for a cause greater than themselves. They gave their tomorrow so we could have our today.

We’re so excited to welcome Dr Felicia Lim to the SAI Veterinary Hospital family! 🩺💙
Dr Felicia has an interest in surgery—especially orthopaedics, so your pets are in incredibly skilled hands when it comes to getting them back on their paws 🐶🐾
🐕Outside the clinic, Felicia keeps life fun and active—she loves bouldering 🧗‍♀️, and proudly holds the title of professional taste tester for her wife’s latest kitchen creations 🍰👩‍🍳
At home, she’s kept on her toes by her two dogs, Storm & Trooper… although we’ve heard they may have a slight preference for her better half 😅🐕🐕
When she’s not caring for your fur babies, you’ll likely find her eating, sleeping, or trying to keep up with hobbies (heavy emphasis on the first two 😉)

Dr Satty graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science & Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (BSc DVM) in 2025, and brings with him a fresh, passionate approach to patient care.

He’s dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality treatment to all our furry patients and building strong relationships with their families 🐶🐱

💔🐾 We fought through an emergency C-section… and what followed broke and healed our hearts all at once 🐾💕
Yesterday at SAI Veterinary Hospital, our entire day and evening became dedicated to one very special patient — Bella, a beautiful French Bulldog mumma who came in for an emergency C-section. 🩺✨
What followed was an emotional rollercoaster that touched every single member of our team.

Bella required urgent surgery, and soon after, her puppies began to arrive safely into the world. Bella delivered 7 tiny puppies. 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

But for us, the real work had only just begun…
Each tiny newborn needed immediate resuscitation and intensive monitoring, with every puppy requiring up to an hour of dedicated care after birth.
For 7 continuous hours, our vets and nurses worked side by side — no breaks, no pause — just unwavering focus, teamwork, and determination to give every fragile life the best possible chance. ❤️

🙏🏽Tiny breaths were encouraged🙏🏽Small heartbeats were closely watched.
🙏🏽Every second mattered.

It was a full day and evening of hope, pressure, and emotional intensity.
And then came the hardest moment… 💔
Despite everything our team did with love, skill, and absolute commitment, one precious little puppy couldn’t be saved. 🌈🐾
🐾A moment like that stays with you long after the day ends.
But even in heartbreak, there was hope. 💕
Through tireless care and unwavering dedication, the remaining puppies continued to strengthen under our team’s watchful hands, fighting their way forward one moment at a time.
When Bella finally woke up from surgery, her first instinct was simply to be with her babies. 💙
And seeing her settle beside them — calm, safe, and surrounded by warmth — was a moment that brought a quiet sense of relief after such an emotional day.
Six tiny survivors. One incredible mother. And a team that gave everything they had. 🐾✨
These are the moments that define veterinary medicine.
Not just treatment… but compassion, resilience, and fighting for every life that looks to us for help. 💔💙
