We love saving lives at Canning Vale Vet. 7 years old Roxie, an English Staffy was presented around 1 pm on 30/04/2025 with a history of few vomits and diarrhoea, not eating and looks lethargic. After our quick in house investigations (blood tests and imaging), this turned into a life threatening problem for Roxie. Poor mum kept on crying and finally got help from her lovely parents to go ahead with surgery. We were so happy and super-satisfied to remove this massive splenic mass without any complications. We were worried for recovery and wanted to keep Roxie with us overnight. However, by 10 pm Roxie was walking well and looking forward to eat and drink.
Great news for Roxie and her family is that the big mass is not an aggressive cancer. It is just nodular hyperplasia. SO Roxie’s lifespan is not going to get affected by this mass. Roxie was inches away from being euthanised on that day but thanks to her mum who didn’t give up. Lesson to learn that all big masses are not aggressive cancers. We can only discover it after doing adequate investigations like blood work, X-rays/Ultrasound. We thank our nurses and vets for this awesome job. Ram and Christine were operating vets and our trainee nurse Brie stayed late on that as well. Roxie is completely back to normal and looks like she had no surgery. Thanks 🙏🏽 everyone

We do take special care of our Brachycephalic babies. Vet and nurses must be aware of their respiratory system, choosing right sedation, ability to pass correct size endotracheal tube and competency to wake up these patients from anaesthesia. This dogo is one of our most brachycephalic pup. He kept tube in for nearly 20 minutes to achieve a smooth recovery.
