🎃🐾🕸Howl-O-ween is fast approaching!

Our buddy Chewie is here to remind us of a few simple steps to ensure everyone including your pets have a spooktacular night!

🎃 Stash the treats- chocolate in all forms is toxic to our pets as well as the sugar substitute Xylitol which is found in many delicious treats, so no sweets for your sweetie this Halloween.

🎃 Costumes are optional - if you choose to include your pet in the fun, ensure their costume doesn't cause undue stress and allows them to move freely, keep cool and doesn't restrict their breathing.

🎃 Party Poopers are okay- with Halloween comes lots of knocks at the door and loud noises. Ensure pets have a safe and secure quiet place to retreat during the nightly fun.

🎃 Updated I.D- ensure collars and tags are securely attached and that microchip details are up to date with current contact number.

Our lovely boys Tango and Duffy recently visited us for their dental procedures and enjoyed some well-deserved recovery time together. 🥰

Sometimes the simplest comforts are the best! Snuggled up in their cardboard boxes with soft, warm blankets, these two were feeling safe, cosy and comfortable. 📦🐱

As the weather gets warmer, it's important to remember that our pets are at greater risk of overheating and heatstroke!

Unlike humans, dogs don't sweat to cool themselves down effectively. Instead, they rely primarily on panting to regulate their body temperature. During hot and humid conditions, this becomes much more difficult, so it's up to us to take extra precautions to keep them safe.

Here are some simple ways to keep your pets cool and comfortable:

🐾 Avoid unnecessary exercise during hot weather. Plan walks for the cooler parts of the early morning or evening.

🐾 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool drinking water. Adding ice cubes to water bowls and providing multiple bowls can help.

🐾 Let your dog enjoy a supervised swim or splash in a paddling pool.

🐾 Keep pets indoors where possible, with access to fans or air conditioning.

🐾 NEVER leave your pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes or with the windows down!

🐾 Take extra care with brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs and French Bulldogs, as they are particularly susceptible to overheating.

🚨 Know the signs of heatstroke!

👅 Excessive panting, heavy salivation, vomiting, diarrhoea, bright red gums, weakness or collapse can all indicate heatstroke.

🚿 If you notice any of these signs, begin cooling your pet immediately with cool (not icy) water and seek urgent veterinary attention. Don't wait to see if they improve.

☀️ Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency, but taking a few simple precautions can help keep our beloved pets safe during the warmer months.**

🐾 **Wait… did we switch dogs?! ✂️**

Frankie spent winter rocking his beautiful woolly coat, but with the warmer weather on the way it was time for his big summer groom! ☀️ 💦 🏝️

Keeping that fluffy coat well maintained helps Frankie stay mat-free, cool and comfortable, and with a shorter coat it also makes those important ⚠️ tick checks much easier

And underneath all that fluff… apparently there was a completely different dog hiding! 😂
