Oh my dog!.. 🤩
When Dash the 1 year old Great Dane came to visit us for his adolescent health check, he weighed a whopping 63.50 kilograms!

Despite being so huge, he was a very polite and gentle boy, and very clever posing for our camera. We loved meeting you big boy 🐾

Happy Saturday..or Caturday everyone!! 🐱🐾🐾
Welcome back to our cat carrier series! In this short video, our wonderful vet Dr. Liv will provide techiques using a towel to assist getting your cat into their carrier (top-loading and side-loading). Because we know how hard it can be to do this!

This is Part 2 of a 3-Part series, so please be sure to check out our previous video (without a towel) on this topic if you wish.

Our last part will be posted next weekend, with 2 other techniques demonstrated. 🐈‍⬛

If you have your own question that you would like answered in a video, feel free to message us :)

When you bring in a urine sample, it doesn’t just get a quick glance 👀

We use tools like this refractometer to carefully assess hydration and kidney health. It measures how light bends through a tiny drop of urine. The more concentrated the urine, the higher the specific gravity (SG) reading.

In this case, the USG of this pet was on the more concentrated side (>1.030), meaning there is more waste in the urine.

Specific gravity is just one value that we measure, and we have a few other ways to test urine, such as using a urinanalysis dipstick. 😺

🔬🕷️ This Tiny Creature Can Be Deadly

This is a paralysis tick we found on a pup, under the microscope. It is small enough to be missed, but powerful enough to make pets critically unwell.

It's getting hot!- Paralysis ticks become more active and can cause progressive paralysis in dogs and cats if not detected early.

❗️What to watch for at home:
• Weak or wobbly back legs
• Change in voice or breathing
• Lethargy or collapse
• Vomiting or gagging
If you’re ever unsure or notice symptoms, don’t wait, seek veterinary care as soon as possible.

🔍 If your pet has been out and about, especially in grassy or woody areas.. Tick checks are essential, even if your pet is on tick prevention!

Ticks especially love to hide around the head, neck, ears, lips, armpits and between toes, so be sure to double check here.

Hello to our Taringa Vet community and visitors! 😺👋

Welcome back to our Wonder Wednesday series, where we are continuing our topic on cat friendly handling for our pet parents.

Today, we are posting Part 1 of a three-part mini series on How- To get your cat into a carrier without hassle (featuring adorable Dyer family cat Voodoo!) 🐈‍⬛

Dr. Liv demonstrates calm, safe techniques using front-facing carriers and top-opening zipper carriers, designed to minimise stress for both cats and humans.

Coming up next:
Part 2 will cover how to use a towel wrap to help cats feel secure when needed during carrier placements.

A huge thank you to Dr. Liv for sharing her expertise 💛
Wishing everyone had a lovely (and calm!) weekend!! :)
