Meet the staff Monday 🐾

Today we introduce you to our amazing receptionist Alisha. Alisha came on board to help us with reception duties to free up our nurses. At the start it was a few hours a week, but having Alisha on board has been amazing for everyone, and we are incredibly lucky to have her now 5 days a week.

What pets do you have at home?
I have Malachite an 8 year old ragdoll x Himalayan and Eddy a 6 year old exotic Persian. I have also recently added Princess Sophie Sparkle a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to the family.

What’s a fun fact we need to know about you?
I used to work for the CEO of Qantas as an executive receptionist. I did a bachelors degree in music to become a music teacher and wanted to be an emergency nurse at a hospital

What’s your favourite thing to do in the clinic?
I love being in reception and interacting with the clients and their pets, I love watching them go from being u well to healthy, it’s very rewarding.

How cute is tiny Tilly 😍

Tilly, at only 10 months of age Tilly came in to see Dr Anna as her owner had noticed her skipping every now and then on the leg. After an examination and X-rays MPL (Medial Patellar Luxation) surgery was strongly recommended by Dr Anna. The surgery helps to stabilise the knee to stop it from dislocating. Tilly had her procedure and she is doing amazing in her recovery. It’s a long road ahead, but in the next 6-8 weeks, Tilly will be much more comfortable walking around. 🐾

Allow us to introduce you to Benjamin 💕
Benjamin came into us after his owners were concerned Benjamin may have possibly eaten some wool. While unsure, they still brought him in to be checked out. He had been a little grumpy and off his food. After initial X-rays, Benjamin was admitted and given a Barium contrast. This allowed us to see if food was passing through his stomach and intestines properly. After four hours and subsequent X-rays we could clearly see that something wasn’t right. Dr Anna performed an urgent exploratory laparotomy which quickly discovered something blocking Benjamin’s intestinal tract. In total we removed about a meter of wool from Benjamin’s intestine. After spending a few days in hospital receiving care from our nurses on a 4 hourly roster, Benjamin was well enough to go home. He is very lucky that his owners were alert and recognised there may be an issue. Cats are notorious for swallowing string, cotton, wool and parts of toys, we’ve even removed a nerf bullet from a cat once! It’s important toys are checked regularly and cats are monitored around things that can be swallowed.

When life gives you lemons, we make donuts!!
Sweet Cleo came in for a routine desexing last week and was keen to lick at her wound. So our nurses stepped in and made sure she was comfortable but not able to lick her wound with our cute donut soft E Collar. Whilst not all animals lick at their wounds, it’s important to make sure we protect the surgery sight to ensure it heals properly. Love to see Cleo completely unbothered and making the most of hers 💓

Meet the staff Monday 🐾

Today we meet Dr Anita. Dr Anita has been at Greystanes Vet Clinic since 2023, she graduated from Sydney University in 2019, and has a very keen interest in all things feline. Dr Anita has an amazing rapport with her patients and is loved for her care and compassion

1. What animals do you currently have?
I have the world’s most handsome cat named Momo and the world’s goofiest cat named Mason.

2. What’s a fun fact we need to know about you?
I have a little vase where I keep their whiskers.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do in the clinic?
I love meeting new owners with their new fur baby! It’s so important to make sure their first experience at the vet is a positive one! From giving them plenty of cuddles and treats, to slow and gentle handling, so they love coming through the doors! But of course that goes for every patient that comes in to the clinic!

Meet the team Monday 🐾

Today we get to know a little bit more about Stacey. Always bright and bubbly, with a smile on her face. Our beautiful Stacey is currently off enjoying motherhood with her baby, but we hope to see her back soon.

1. What animals do you currently have?
I have dogs Nacho and Bailey, cats Stormy and Candy a turtle named Steve, 3 horses named Sheila, Bailey and Buck and lots of fish

2. What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I am a gym lover, netball player and a happy busy mum of two girls 🎀

I love Pathology, taking bloods and placing catheters

Everyone meet Coco 💖

Such a strong older girl. At the age of 13, Coco was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg. With her owners wanting to give her every chance, the only option was a forelimb amputation. Coco came in and after running bloods and doing further X-rays to ensure she was healthy and that the cancer hadn’t spread, we removed the affected front leg. Coco stayed with us for almost a week so we could monitor her and ensure she was stable on her remaining front leg. We are happy to report Coco is now home, back with her doggo friends and living life in the sunshine ☀️
Such a gorgeous girl, full of love 💖
