Our dedicated healthcare team at Great Western Animal Hospital, are committed to caring for and improving the quality of life of family pets and their wonderful owners Since our small beginnings in the 1960’s as a one vet practice, Great Western Animal Hospital has been renovated and modernised over the years to become a Fear Free seven-vet practice with great facilities and a dedicated, compassio

nate team of animal lovers. We offer exceptional and compassionate service, well considered advice and a gold standard of care that is tailored to their (and your) needs. We as a team are committed to high quality Healthcare, Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. This means that it is very important for all our team members to participate in ongoing education and external courses to constantly update their skills. Our vets will often participate in continuing education seminars, conferences and courses to ensure we are delivering the most up to date standard of care. Our Nurses are also committed to their education by attending seminars and participating in training courses. All of our nurses are either Cert IV qualified or working towards their qualification, those that are qualified are also AVNAT Registered. We have a dedicated reception team who focuses on Customer Service and Satisfaction. They make sure that we maintain regular and close communication with our clients when their pets have recently undergone treatment so that the vets can better monitor their progress.

🦜💚 Lucky Lorikeet Rescue! 💚🦜

This cheeky rainbow lorikeet found itself trapped inside the wall of someone’s home for five whole days! 😱 Thankfully, the amazing Fire Brigade came to the rescue and helped free our feathered friend 🧑🚒🔥

After some TLC at Great Western Animal Hospital, this little adventurer is doing beautifully and will soon head off to our friends at Sydney Metro Wildlife Services or WIRES for continued care and release back into the wild 🌿💪

A big shoutout to everyone involved — teamwork really does save lives ❤️

💚 Annie’s Post-Op Check 💚

Beautiful Annie came in for her post-operative check with Dr Kate after undergoing life-saving surgery to treat a pyometra — a serious infection of the uterus that can occur in unspayed female dogs.

Pyometra can develop quickly and, if left untreated, can be fatal. Luckily her family were onto it quickly and Annie is doing amazingly well!

Early signs can include:
⚠️ Increased thirst or urination
⚠️ Lethargy
⚠️ Loss of appetite
⚠️ Vaginal discharge

We’re so happy to report that Annie is recovering beautifully and feeling much better! 🐶💖

Rocky Lee has a very important question for you!

Handsome Rocky Lee was in on Saturday for his annual vaccinations — and he was such a good boy! 💚

As the weather warms up and more pets are out and about at parks, beaches, and playdates, we tend to see a rise in preventable diseases like parvovirus, kennel cough, and leptospirosis.

These illnesses can spread quickly and can be life-threatening, especially for unvaccinated pets. Keeping your pet’s vaccinations up to date is the best way to protect them (and the community) from these serious diseases.
