Tucked quietly along a street in Barcelona, there stands a sculpture that stops people in their tracks.
It’s called The Abandoned Dog, created by Catalan artist Artur Aldomà Puig.
No pedestal. No glory. Just a dog—sculpted in stone, sitting alone, waiting.
Its eyes are what pull you in.
Wide. Hopeful. Full of quiet sorrow.
It’s not just a statue—it’s a message.
This sculpture is a tribute to every dog who gave their love, only to be left behind. It speaks for the voiceless. The loyal. The forgotten.
Next to the figure is a poem by the artist himself, etched in metal.
It reads:
“Your race doesn’t matter.
Your name doesn’t matter.
You came into the world
to be my friend.”
It’s not just about dogs. It’s about what we owe to love—the love that comes without judgment, without condition, without limit.
Locals leave flowers by its paws. Children stop to pet it. Visitors kneel to take photos and wipe away tears. It has become a place of memory, and mourning, and quiet promises.
A reminder that loyalty like this should never go unnoticed.
Artur Aldomà Puig didn’t just sculpt a dog.
He sculpted a responsibility.

Liefste Gideon... Sharpei X, ongeveer 6 maande oud.
So n kleine, spesiale, liefdevolle woefkind wat as puppy met 'hardship' van hiérdie ongenaakte wêreld kennis gemaak het.
Hy wil nét liefgehê word, genoeg kossies hê en lekker 'warmte' ervaar... Hy wil net behoort.
My emosies gaan oorborrel die dag as sy hartsmense hom kom haal.
Ons bid vir n huis waar hy sal deel wees van n veel kleiner pack en en met individuele aandag sy volle potensiaal sal bereik.
Dit is tyd dat hy hondeskool toe gaan, en ons kan nie aan daardie behoefte voldoen nie.
Miskien is daar iemand wat bereid is om hom te neem?

Next week Bailey, Milo, Miko, Cola & Zendi will be departing to join their families in Australia and the UK!

We are praying for fur-eva families where Gideon and Frost will be able to be part and parcel of a smaller pack, sharing their love and loyalty with people worthy of it🙏🏻🙌🏻

Pedro the Parrot (featuring in another posting earlier this week) will be the first to 'leave the nest and spreading his wings'... exchanging his SA Passport for an EU Passport when settling down in Ireland...

Pavrotti, Amelita and Montserrat will for the 2nd time around enter the showring in the Cape Province next week. Please hold thumbs🤗.
Amelita requires one more Best Puppy to receive her Junior Merit title...
Pavrotti has qualified to participate in the KUSA National Awards Special Event Show for Best Puppy...
But, we are just going to enjoy some time with friends and family and of course... more dogs😆

Our amazing Berrakaw team will keep our babes happy, comfortable, fed and warm while Pierre and myself are away.
