Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society Statement:
The Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society (KAWS) would like to clarify that we are an entirely separate organisation from Zola’s Rescue and are not affiliated with their operations, activities, decisions, or social media statements in any way.
KAWS has served the Kleinmond community for many years with a focus on lawful, ethical, and community-based animal welfare. We understand that there may currently be confusion within the community regarding the different organisations operating in the area, and we feel it is important to respectfully clarify this distinction.
Our approach has always been to work within the framework of South African animal welfare legislation, together with the appropriate authorities where necessary. We believe in education, assistance, sterilisation initiatives, responsible ownership support, and constructive engagement with animal owners and the broader community.
Where cases of suspected cruelty or neglect arise, KAWS follows the appropriate legal and procedural channels. The removal of animals is a serious matter governed by legislation and due process, and our organisation acts accordingly.
We remain committed to improving animal welfare while also maintaining respectful relationships within the communities we serve. Many families in our surrounding communities care deeply for their animals despite difficult socio-economic circumstances, and we believe long-term solutions are built through cooperation, education, support, and lawful intervention where required.
We ask the public to please ensure that comments, concerns, complaints, or questions are directed to the correct organisation.
